JSM 2024 kicked off this week in Portland, Oregon, with more than 5,000 statisticians, data scientists, and students descending upon the “City of Roses” for a week of powerful programming and networking opportunities. Featured speakers are a JSM highlight and, today, Annie Qu of the University of California, Irvine, presented Medallion Lecture I. She showcased advanced statistical machine-learning techniques and tools designed for the seamless integration of information from multi-source data sets. She also offered an investigation of the advantages and drawbacks of methods such as data fusion, optimal transport, missing data imputations, and matrix completions and introduced a latent representation method aimed at mapping heterogeneous observed data to a latent space. “This approach ultimately enhances the accuracy of prediction and statistical inference,” said Qu. https://lnkd.in/e_iQektz
