The ACC is seeking comments on a draft of the ACC/AHA/ASE/ASNC/SCCT/SCMR Advanced Training Statement on Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging. The document defines the program requirements for training advanced cardiovascular imagers and uses the ACGME competency domain structure to identify the competencies required by all advanced cardiovascular imagers, as well as those who choose to specialize in a particular area. It also identifies recommendations for minimum procedural volume or technical experience to achieve and demonstrate competence as an advanced cardiovascular imager. The real-world evidence from recent NCDR research provides insights related to the operator's career stage and outcomes from PCI, as well as transcatheter mitral valve-in-ring as an alternative approach for patients with high surgical risk. Other studies leveraging #NCDR data have shown that the fifth-generation SAPIEN 3 Ultra Resilia valve, compared with earlier generation SAPIEN valves, lowers mean gradients and paravalvular leak, and substantial site-level variation in permanent pacemaker implantation persists.
