In April, the United States Department of Labor released a final rule affecting certain employees' rights to minimum wage and overtime pay. The final rule updates and revises the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, exempting executive, administrative and professional employees from minimum wage and overtime requirements. As a result of the final rule, the minimum salary required for certain employees to be classified as exempt from overtime under federal law increased on July 1, 2024, and will again on January 1, 2025.
