🌱 Seeds 🌻 Fertilizers 🐛 Agricultural inputs, and more! Two brand new agrishops in Badakhshon, Tajikistan are turning into one-stop shops for farming needs! The USAID-funded Market Driven Rural Development Activity (MDRD) supported the opening of two special shops for agricultural inputs in the Badakhson province of #Tajikistan to improve access to quality agricultural products in the region. This initiative ensures a steady supply of seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural essentials to local farmers. It also alleviates their burden - farmers previously had to navigate various shops in open markets or order inputs from distant regions. Reliable access to essential inputs for farmers will leave a lasting positive impact on the agricultural market of Badakhshon. #AgriculturalInputs #FarmingNeeds

Master in Public Policy graduate student and ACDI/VOCA volunteer, Allison Holland, is in South Africa this summer supporting the Tanager team on its Imbewu Farmer Development Project in the Eastern Cape. Supported by the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs funding, Allison’s assignment focuses on developing Tanager’s digital agriculture extension pilot to expand farmer engagement and improve maize production and profitability. For this assignment, Allison has been surveying farmers about their WhatsApp and technology usage, interviewing key stakeholders, researching digital extension successes, and developing recommendations for the team’s pilot. Allison is also investigating ways for the digital extension to increase gender and social integration into the program by making trainings more accessible and relevant for women. Our volunteers bring invaluable insight and technical assistance to our projects. If you're interested in volunteering with us, learn more here: https://bit.ly/3uRLfoJ

For many families in southern Tajikistan, greenhouses are more than just a structure, they're a symbol of change offering a different, hopeful future. The USAID-funded Market Driven Rural Development (MDRD) Activity is teaming up with the Imon Fund, a microcredit organization, to expand the Fund's reach to the less industrially developed south, allowing the transfer of years of expertise serving farmers and agribusinesses to the region. Read about how, with support from MDRD, the Imon Fund is providing financial loans and innovative high-quality greenhouses to smallholder farmers in the region, empowering farmers and enhancing their livelihoods: https://bit.ly/3LzznPD
