You're managing a conflict in case management. What's the best way to document it?

Having emotional intelligence in documenting conflict is important. It is also important to know the facts through investigation to understand a conflict to be able to document without personal emotions. There are policies to help guide documenting conflicts to later reference. If it is not documented it didn’t happen so, for good case management ethics, documentation is a key fundamental component of the role. One thing I have found useful is both hardcopy and soft copy documentation. It is done for transparency, responsibility and reference in future. Human beings are complex, rhey change any time, change statements plans positions etc. Some clients come with lies, forged documents that you need to verify before you defend them or schedule mediation. All documents can be recalled any time, so incase you have not filed it becomes tricky.

Documentation is very key. It's said if it's not written then it was not done or is not to be done. Documentation is an element of communication be it written in black or white or recorded.

It is usually good to document immediately when evidence is there, witnesses are present. Also, where there is need to visit the crime scene, the police may want to see evidence at the scene which when you delay may be tampered with, making tye case useless.

This comprehensive approach ensures transparency, accountability, and facilitates successful conflict resolution.

Usually you document what is said, review and reflect. Where you see a gap you can ask for information or use it to discover, that there is a cover up going on, which may affect your client or opponent or yourself. When conflict arises while providing services, our side of the street is to continue to show up professionally. While we are human and have human reactions, self-reflexivity allows us to focus on how to create connection to diffuse crisis with the other person.
