My best strategies have almost always come from a specific set of conditions: 1. Mental space: When you feel the pressure to get an idea, the idea probably won't come. Creative strategy needs to be as free as possible, and pressure can make you constrained. Remote work can make you feel like you need to prove you're working, be disciplined in allowing your thoughts to breath, and not focusing on "proving" your working. The results will speak for themselves. 2. Interaction: You need frequent interactions with whatever the strategy is focused on. Creating systems for clients? You better be interacting with them A LOT! Make an BIG effort. 3. Do the thinking: Set out time, stare at that blank screen, and suddenly you'll start writing something.

I believe there should be a real space to let your mind and body be creative. With strategy, codifying does not necessarily represent the bulk of your time spent. I usually codify quite quickly. Remember: Strategies can be simple, it's the idea that's difficult to obtain. Your space is crucial for this. Move environments, interact with other people(Whether it be shop staff or co-work buddies), take walks in nature, have wide open spaces and use techniques to move to creative space mentally. Try things like the PO technique, putting arbitrary ridiculous confines on the problem, and solving for them, then removing the confines, and seeing what you created. IE How would we make a restaurant that didn't sell any food? Make sure your space fits your current task need. If you need to codify, get a focussed space.
