RESPECT - EQUALITY - MOTIVATION In any department all the team member should be treated equally. Main key role is played by the manager or the head of the department, as for their team member they are the role model. If they show mutual respect and understanding for their subordinates or juniors, this will set an example to their subordinates, to show respect to their other member of the team/department/office. Give them freedom to showcase their expertise or express their views, and new ideas, encourage and motivate the team. Everyone should be heard, and should not be discouraged. Or if any idea is not good, share with them separately so they will not feel disrespected. Mutual respect is very important aspect in any organization.

In my experience of leading a team across hierarchies, it’s important to help team members be clear on the role that each of them get to play and how they add value to the team/organisation as a whole. So regardless of their rank or position, they are seen as an asset. This gives them a lot of confidence when interacting with senior stakeholders, instead of getting intimidated. I also ask people to reach out if they are stuck when it comes to interacting with people across different hierarchies. My role then is to resolve anything that comes in the way of cross-hierarchical collaboration.
