When facilitating group problem solving, I try to remember that everyone processes information differently and approaches problems from their own unique lens. First, I pose the problem to the group and provide them with a few minutes of individual reflection, encouraging that they make notes of their thoughts or questions. Then I have each person pair up and share with their partner their perspective. Another approach is to have participants post their ideas to a board and allow other to view those ideas before coming back to a larger group conversation.

From there, we ask people why they chose their card. The card is a simple way to have someone voice their opinion quickly and become a springboard for deeper conversation.
