It helps to remember that technology has always shaped the evolution of media, from the shifts from film to digital capture to the jumps made to the web, we are constantly evolving with code, algorithms and each other. We are not fully separate from our systems or each other, and we are in this together, not separated from it. Our technology enables our storytelling, and the advances in storytelling technologies and methods can improve how we tell stories, just as it has for over a century in film and narrative features. Embracing change starts with testing new methods, staying limber and willing to try a new technology or opportunity then carefully assess whether it is an improvement for your unique storytelling methods and needs.

AI is new technology and under our capitalist system, it serves primarily those who pay the piper. There is a long tradition of governments and corporations that have money to invest shaping the content of our media, both entertainment and journalism. The Hollywood Blacklist was an example from the middle of the last century. The dynamics have not fundamentally changed. The advent of AI gives the vastly consolidated oligopoly that much more power to identify and censor messages they consider "adverse". We saw this dynamic on steroids in connection with the management of COVID19 messaging, the promotion of mRNA products, and the parallel suppression and vilification of alternative products and practices.

Promptable transformer tools start with a description of a scene, a bit like the script; the scene description at the top of every scene in a script can start a prompt to visualize ideas for style and tone, concept development, storyboarding, animatics and pre-development of a new film project. While most of what comes out of generative media tools is not HD or high quality enough to use RAW, generated concept art can be combined with your film teams' talents to help detail thousands of worldbuilding assets quickly and refine ideas. Give plenty of time for humans to generate, curate and iterate in cycles, improving over time. Humans choose, and this takes time. Every step is improved with human critical thinking and creative analysis.

Collaboration as a collective dance starts with an openness and willingness to explore new opportunities with others. In this case, these other tools are differently informed and have a different set of models and ideas than our own. Combine the vast prolific capacity for ML composition tools with your own existing artworks and compositions whether music, film, art or other worldbuilding. Do you need to see 100 versions of that character underwater or achieve something that you could never put an actor through? Are you creating a vast new world or transforming 100 versions quickly? Many compelling generative media pieces start with human-made art, video and media compositions later uploaded, blended & remixed, trained & regenerated again.
