Communication takes lots of forms but to give a one size fits all is clearly just wrong and insensitive to your team’s needs. Adapt your communication methods to your team, if you have neurodiverse members then adapt your style to the whole team’s needs whilst still providing clear communication and facilitating the same within the team. Completely agree that text/chat messages can lack the intonation required to add more clarity but there are other ways to communicate. Also, in multicultural teams, some phrases/styles just don’t translate either. Ultimately it’s the responsibility of the communicator to learn how to communicate with the team effectively, not the team to learn how to adjust to the manager!

Collaboration thrives on knowledge sharing in mobile communications environment. The ability to express your thoughts, ideas and instructions clearly is important. This could come in written or verbal communication. The way you communicate with your team working in the office is different from the way you communicate with your remote team. Always be mindful of behaviour and tone of voice (Verbal) and context of your messaging(non-verbal/written) It is crucial you give everyone a voice. Not doing this will only suppress the good hands in your team whom are not outspoken. When everyone feels like they're able to express themselves, collaboration naturally ensues.

In my experience working in Mobile communications, Open, transparent communication among team members and other stake holders plays very important role in successful collaboration. Actively listening to the team members, supporting them with roadblocks related and sharing ideas foster better collaboration.

Best tools will work best when clear communication with clear words are used based on relevant needs. Think about yourself if the content is useful for your communication partner.
