Eu tenho o hábito de escutar as demandas, entender o porque dessa demanda e o que ela impacta no objetivo e escopo inicial do projeto de consultoria. Muitas vezes o próprio cliente percebe a falta de necessidade dessa demanda adicional, caso realmente seja desnecessária para o sucesso do projeto. Caso eu veja que é relevante essa demanda, eu explico o impacto no prazo e no trabalho adicional a ser realizado, e com isso uma proposta de aditivo contratual para fazer a implementação.

Ensure you are clear on the client's needs from the outset. The best approach is to conduct a design thinking workshop to define the problem and develop the most feasible solution. Then, define the scope, secure sign off and effectively communicate the deliverables along with timelines to ensure both you and your client are on the same page. Ensure timely updates. This will help you avoid potential issues. If these steps are not followed, adopt agile approach. Request your client to set priority and agree to deliver the highest ones first, and convince them that the remaining items can be addressed in next phases. Obviously, not all changes can be foreseen but at least you have preset a framework for future adaptions. If the original agreement is too ambiguous you will run into conflict, so avoid it with this approach to preparation to the relationship..

There should always be room to discuss broadening the scope of a project, but we should never accept anything without thinking strategically about it. The default response should be, "That's an interesting challenge/proposition. Let me think more deeply about it and get back to you." You can offer extra for this project but contingent that we can secure phase 2 or something in return. At the end of the day, consultants should deliver outcome and not just "deliverables"

Alternatively, try to give the solutions that can be done within the same timeline, and if the client still wants that then suggest revising the deadline and the budget. This keeps everyone on the same page.
