Embrecing flexibility yes, absolutley. However I would argue the NUMBER 1 RULE (to be able to manage projects remotley and effectively.) IS TRANSPARENCY (i.e. we could emrace flexibility, but with out transparency, remote work will never be effective.) There are 2 aspects of Transparency for Agile Project Management or Scrum or Kanban: 1) Transparent people (i.e. Scrum values; openness, respect, courage, focus, commitment.) 2) Transparent tool - Kanban white board with post-its (Good face to face. Bad remotley) - Project Management plan with tasks not able to share and updated daily is not transparent. - A shared tool updated with team collaboration in real time, showing work done, in-progress, and to be done, will provide transparency.

Good communication is vital. Note that meetings are not the only way to communicate. When there is good transparency (real time team board with key metrics), many unecesary meetings will go away. We just need to have a minimum but effective meetings strategy (In Scrum it is Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review & Retrospective. i.e. Planning and prioritising value work vs goal, Daily meet collaboration to achive the goal, Review or demo of done work, Retrospective for improvements.)

Goal setting is the best way to set expectations and defining value to be achived. Following a plan will not necesarily define value or be flexible enough to cope with suprises. But if the plan is shared, updated/changed to ful-fill the goal, then we will achive value, collaboration and transparency.

There are great tools to achive better transparency and collaboration, a monolitic big plan to be followed in what ever tool, will not achive transparency, collaboration and flexibility (Agility) to achive value (goals). The best tools are those that offer transparency, collaboration and flexibility. There are many. The best is the one all team agrees and like, and improves transparency, collaboration and flexibility.

In culture change it's really important that the team is designed and run as though it's in the future culture already. You don't want to run a change team focused on changing culture in the 'old' norms or way of doing things - it will mean that what you deliver will likely hold onto the 'old' cultural norms.

All these tips are nonnegotiable sin order to develop your team culture and habits so that everyone is included, supports, contributing, and on point. I would add Deliver Results as another Critical Element. Progress and success, known and celebrated, keeps change moving I the direction of the strategic goal. Performance management includes acknowledgement and celebration individually and as a team or organization.
