At the San Diego Comic-Con panel for the Disney+ series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” the show's cast and creators teased what's to come in the highly anticipated second season. The panel was moderated by Jay Duplass and featured executive producer Dan Shotz, co-creator Jonathan E. Steinberg, and stars Walker Scobell, Virginia Kull, Leah Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, and Adam Copeland.
One of the biggest reveals from the panel was the casting of Daniel Diemer as Tyson, Percy Jackson's Cyclops half-brother, who will make his introduction in Season 2. Author Rick Riordan, whose books the series is based on, shared the news via video in Hall H. The 28-year-old Diemer is best known for his role as Paul Munsky in Netflix’s ‘The Half of It,’ and has starred in the recent Emmy-nominated Hulu series “Under the Bridge” and Mike Flanagan’s “The Midnight Club.”...

The star-studded voice cast for the upcoming animated 'Transformers One' movie assembled at San Diego Comic-Con today, providing an exciting casting update for a room full of enthusiastic fans. The all-star voice cast featuring Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, and Scarlett Johansson has a new addition—Steve Buscemi will be voicing the iconic franchise villain, Starscream.
Director Josh Cooley and the cast appeared in the convention center’s legendary Hall H to share details, footage, and the latest trailer for the upcoming Paramount release. The animated prequel explores the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron and takes place a staggering three billion years before the other Transformers stories. Here’s a breakdown of who’s who in the highly anticipated expansion of the franchise.
Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax
Chris Hemsworth will lend his vocal talents to the role of Orion Pax, who later becomes the fan-favorite Autobot leader, Optimus Prime. Those are huge shoes to fill, as voice actor Peter Cullen has been the voice of Optimus Prime since the 1980s, in both television and film. But Hemsworth said that because this is the brash, young version of Optimus Prime, the goal was never to sound like Cullen.
Brian Tyree Henry as D-16
Playing opposite Hemsworth is Brian Tyree Henry, who has been tapped to voice D-16, Orion Pax's close friend who eventually becomes his archenemy, Megatron. For Henry, the casting was a dream come true, recalling during the panel that for some reason, his parents only bought him the villain toys. He had the Megatron toy and would make him the hero, because even as a kid he knew that villains don’t start out that way.
Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1
Scarlett Johansson, no stranger to voicing animated characters (‘Sing,’ ‘Her,’ ‘Isle of Dogs’), will bring her star power to the role of Elita-1, a powerful female Autobot warrior and Optimus Prime's love interest.
Keegan-Michael Key as B-127
Comedy star Keegan-Michael Key will provide the voice of B-127, another of Orion Pax's allies. Key shared with the crowd at Hall H that he was a fan from the beginning, rushing home after school and begging his mother to let him watch the cartoon before doing his homework.
Steve Buscemi as Starscream
During the SDCC panel, it was revealed that Steve Buscemi will voice the villainous Decepticon, Starscream. Buscemi's talent for playing weaselly, untrustworthy characters should make him the perfect fit for this treacherous role.
Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion
The inimitable Laurence Fishburne will lend his iconic vocals to the wise mentor figure Alpha Trion. In a fun bit of Hollywood connections, ‘Transformers One’ producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who appeared onstage at the Comic-Con presentation, helped shepherd another Fishburne film into production 25 years ago—‘The Matrix.’
Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime
Jon Hamm continues his foray into voice acting—after roles in “Invincible,” “M.O.D.O.K.,” and “Grimsburg”— by taking on the role of Sentinel Prime, one of the original leaders of the Autobots, turned villain.

Disney is jumping for Joy. That’s because the studio’s emotion-laden “Inside Out 2” has surpassed “Frozen II” to stand as the highest-grossing animated film in history.
After six weeks of release, “Inside Out 2” has generated $601 million domestically and $861 million internationally, bringing its global tally to a staggering $1.46 billion. “Frozen II” was bigger than the very successful original 2013 film and collected a mighty $1.45 billion during its theatrical run in 2019.
In terms of global ticket sales, “Inside Out 2” just overtook “Barbie” ($1.446 billion) as the 13th-biggest movie of all time. Among its many records, the Pixar sequel is the fastest animated film to cross the $1 billion benchmark, having done so in 19 days. It’s also the highest-grossing movie of 2024 to date, and the only one this year to join the billion-dollar club.

Merc with the Mouth is looking better than ever, along with old pal and fellow superhero favorite Wolverine.
Marvel Studios and Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine grossed a record-shattering $38.5 million in Thursday previews beginning, by far the best showing ever for an R-rated film and putting it at No. 8 on the list of top previews among all films, not adjusted for inflation. It joins an elite roster that includes installments in Hollywood’s biggest franchise, including Avengers, Star Wars, Spider-Man and the final Harry Potter film.
Shawn Levy directed the high-profile Deadpool threeuel, which returns Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool and brings Jackman into the franchise as Logan/Wolverine. (The trio are close friends, a big plus for the film’s global publicity tour that was capped by a stop at Comic-Con’s Hall H on Thursday, where fanboys were treated to a panel and a screening of the two-hour and eight-minute film.

What’s going on with I Am Legend 2? First announced in March 2022, it’s been all quiet however, scribe and producer Akiva Goldsman promised “there will be some good news shortly.”
The sequel has yet to set a director; Francis Lawrence directed the first which was a huge blockbuster earning over a half billion worldwide in 2007.
Wait, didn’t Will Smith’s character die at the end? “We’re sequelizing the alternative cut,” says Goldsman “Where Will lives and things don’t go well for humanity.”
The sequel will see Smith and Michael B. Jordan starring as well as their respective studios of Westbrook and Outlier Society producing at Warner Bros.
Goldsman updated that he got into a room with the duo to talk story off a first draft and that yielded a second draft.

Netflix’s film adaptation of the seminal video game “Bioshock” with director Francis Lawrence is being “reconfigured” to be a “more personal” film with a reduced budget, producer Roy Lee (“The Lego Movie”) revealed on Thursday during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
The adaptation was first announced Feb. 2022 as a partnership between Netflix and the game’s producers 2K and Take-Two Interactive. The first “Bioshock” game, released in 2007, is set in a vast underwater city called Rapture created in the desire to foster a utopia, but instead has fallen into chaos and violence. Todd McFarlane has been touting the upcoming Spawn movie for years, and he admits that it’s been a challenge for the gung ho comic book creator to be patient as the process unfolds.
But now one key portion of its development hell phase is ending, and a new chapter is beginning for the project, based on the Image Comics books centering on a former black-ops agent who makes a deal with a demon after being betrayed and killed.
King Spawn now has a completed script, one that McFarlane and producer Jason Blum’s Blumhouse have enough confidence in to start meeting with directors for the movie. The news comes two years after they commissioned a script from rising scribe Matt Mixon, Falcon and the Winter Soldier creator Malcolm Spellman and Joker Oscar nominee Scott Silver.

Grammys CEO Harvey Mason jr. is making one thing clear to Recording Academy voters: “There is no place in our organization for such bias, grudge-holding, or careless voting.”
The songwriter-producer and executive sent a letter to Academy voters on Friday, reminding them to cast their votes for the 2025 show with a purpose.
“Last Grammy season, I heard a Grammy voter say they hadn’t taken a specific artist seriously since a performance they saw more than ten years ago. I was shocked and disturbed by that. There is no place in our organization for such bias, grudge-holding, or careless voting. It’s about the current year and the quality of the work, period!,” he wrote.
Mason jr. adds, “There should be no other rationale for voting. If you are taking into account an artist’s older work, or their reputation, or race, or gender, what label they are on, who their manager is,...

Season six of Peacock’s beloved dating completion series, filmed in Fiji and hosted by Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix, could be one of the most dramatic and surprising seasons of the show’s U.S. iteration. From shocking dumpings that had the villa arguing for weeks to questionable actions in Casa Amor (the ultimate Love Island test), this season had fans flocking to social media to weigh in and share their reactions. Pat Heywood, the veteran Scottish actress who made her film debut as Olivia Hussey’s nurse and confidant in Franco Zeffirelli’s adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, has died. She was 92.
Heywood died June 26, the Scottish Daily Mail reported.
During her four-decade career, Heywood portrayed the maid in the manor at the center of Freddie Francis’ horror comedy Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny and Girly (1970) and the wife of British serial killer John Christie (Richard Attenborough) in the Richard Fleischer-directed 10 Rillington Place (1971).
Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet (1968), which also starred Leonard Whiting alongside Hussey and featured narration from Laurence Olivier, was a hit at the box office as it introduced a new generation to Shakespearean tragedy. Paul McCartney, Phil Collins and Anjelica Huston had been among those considered for the top roles.

Emmy voters have loved “The Crown” from the start. Over six seasons, the Netflix drama has earned 21 Emmys and a total 87 nominations across all categories, including outstanding drama series in 2021 — when it didn’t have to go up against “Succession,” which took a bye year.
“The Crown” is once again up for drama series at the 76th Emmy Awards, and once again won’t have to go up against the now-retired “Succession.” It instead faces another formidable competitor: FX’s “Shogun,” which landed 25 noms and is currently seen as the frontrunner in the drama race.

You probably didn’t know that actor James Woods was an executive producer on Oppenheimer. And according to Woods, the public not knowing that was part of a stealthy marketing strategy.
Woods was on Megyn Kelly’s SiriusXM show and discussed his credit on the film, which, as Hollywood Reporter previously reported, stemmed from his friendship with businessman J. David Wargo, who bought the rights to the Oppenheimer biography American Prometheus, and then enlisted Woods to find a Hollywood home for the project.
As the film approached its summer release date, Woods says somebody — he doesn’t say who — “gently” suggested that he keep a low profile and not promote the film due to his Twitter/X feed, which has supported Donald Trump in the past.
“When Oppenheimer came out, there was a discussion about my Twitter, and it was gently suggested that I basically remain invisible — which was painful,...

Warner Bros. Discovery and Turner Brodcasting have filed a lawsuit against the NBA over its decision to reject the company’s matching rights proposal and move forward with media rights deals with Amazon, NBC and Disney.
“Given the NBA’s unjustified rejection of our matching of a third-party offer, we have taken legal action to enforce our rights,” TNT Sports said in a statement. “We strongly believe this is not just our contractual right, but also in the best interest of fans who want to keep watching our industry-leading NBA content with the choice and flexibility we offer them through our widely distributed Wbd video-first distribution platforms – including TNT and Max.”
The complaint was filed under seal in the New York County Supreme Court on Friday by Wbd’s lawyers, Weil, Gotshal & Manges Llp. The league will have 20 days to respond to the summons upon receiving it.

Warner Bros. For once, Deadpool will apply maximum effort to not break the fourth wall. Or the fifth wall, or any of the walls at Belgium’s famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps racetrack.
Formula One driver Esteban Ocon deployed a full Deadpool takeover livery for the Belgium Grand Prix, debuting his Marvel-themed paint scheme, helmet, fire suit and gloves at the historic circuit’s first practice session Friday.

With two months to go before the release of “Megalopolis,” things are about to get awkward.
Video has surfaced of director Francis Ford Coppola that shows the legendary director trying to kiss young female extras on the set of his ambitious sci-fi epic. Variety has obtained two videos (posted below) that were taken by a crewmember last year during the filming of a bacchanalian nightclub scene.
Two sources told Variety that Coppola appeared to act with impunity on set. And unlike traditional movies, Coppola financed the entire $120 million budget himself, so there were none of the traditional checks and balances in place. The videos would appear to corroborate a bombshell report in the Guardian that claimed the 85-year-old director “tried to kiss some of the topless and scantily clad female extras” and told them “he was ‘trying to get them in the mood.’” The Guardian story broke right before “Megalopolis...

On the latest episode of his weekly news and commentary podcast, comic and pundit Jon Stewart says that major news organizations including NBC News and CNN are denying their reporters the chance to appear on his show, claiming they are then then stonewalling producers seeking an explanation for the decision.
At the top of the July 25 episode of his The Weekly Show podcast, Stewart introduces show producers, Brittany Medevac and Lauren Walker, as he explains how it has been difficult for the podcast to book pundits or journalists who work for these organizations. Frequently, reporters receive requests from other media brands to appear on television, radio and podcasts to guest on the shows and provide context, news analysis or commentary.

Marnie the Dog was one of the pioneer pet influencers of social media: With her lolling tongue and goofy affect, she became a viral star in the 2010s, racking up millions of Instagram followers, a book deal (Marnie the Dog: I’m a Book) and even her own app, Marnie Pro, which allowed users to insert Marnie into any image. That ended in 2020, when the shih tzu rescue died, likely age 18. Her owner, former MTV producer Shirley Braha, was devastated. ““I was so deeply in love with her — she was so special and phenomenal. It was the relationship of a lifetime,” she says now.
Fortunately, Braha had banked a vast archive of photos and videos to keep Marnie’s memory alive. “I’ve definitely held back pictures of her, some of the best I’ve taken, and I go through my hard drive sometimes and think I do want to post them,...

When the Emmy nominations were announced last week, heads turned when Sam Levinson and The Weeknd’s The Idol scooped up a nomination. And Nina McNeely, who earned the nod for choreography, feels like the axed HBO show deserved more Emmy love.
“Definitely cinematography,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I thought Lily [Rose Depp]’s acting was absolutely incredible. Even the makeup was fantastic on The Idol. I would definitely say directing for Sam. He is really incredible to work with, and even watching him work with the other actors, he trusts them so much and really asks their opinion, and you never know how creatively involved people are on projects like films or television. And that was really cool to see — how collaborative of a director he is.”

Armando Iannucci, who created the series Veep, has shared that ever since President Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed his female Vice President, Kamala Harris, he has received a “pile-on” of requests from news organizations (including this one) to comment about how real life is tracking the plot of the HBO political comedy.
One particularly prescient plotline that has been recirculating on social media is from the season two finale (which aired in 2013), when the show’s then-vp Selina Meyer (played by star Julia Louis-Dreyfus) finds out that the show’s president (who viewers never saw) will remove himself from the ticket and won’t run for a second term. She breathlessly informs her staff that she intends to run for president.
Ianucci jumped into the discourse as the clip was being shared. “Still working on the ending,” he wrote.

Worlds might collide in London this Saturday, should the Boss meet the Bear.
As Emmy winner Jeremy Allen White warmed his voice and practiced his guitar to prepare for the Bruce Springsteen biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” he initially kept a distance from his storied subject to better ease into the role.
“I’m trying to have a bit of my own process,” he told Variety in June. “I wanna try to have an understanding, so when I meet him, I’ll have a bit of confidence somewhere in me to stand there.”
That day may soon be near. Speaking from the red carpet at a glitzy, pre-Olympics bash held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, White revealed that he and Springsteen have now “texted and emailed” and might finally meet in person after Springsteen’s show at London’s Wembley Stadium this Saturday.

Fox is getting an early start — very early, in fact — on the future of its animated series Krapopolis.
The network has ordered a fourth season of the show from creator Dan Harmon, which is set in a mythical version of ancient Greece where humans, gods and monsters intermingle. The early renewal is nothing new for Krapopolis, which by the time it premiered in September 2023 had already been picked up for three seasons. With the long production cycle for animated shows, ordering seasons well in advance can ensure an uninterrupted flow of episodes.
News of the renewal was announced late Thursday at Comic-Con in San Diego. The show’s second season is set to premiere in September.
“For all our Krap-devotees, there was no better place to decree another season of Krapopolis than the annual San Diego Comic-Con fan fest and no one better to deliver the proclamation than our brilliant creator and executive producer,...

“The Fall Guy” will soon be available to stream at home on Peacock — stunts and all. It will arrive on the service Aug. 30.
An extended version of the action-comedy film, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, also will bow the same day on Peacock, featuring 20 minutes of new scenes not previously seen in theaters. “The Fall Guy: The Extended Cut” includes “more action, stunts, romance and more sexy bacon!” according to NBCUniversal, for a total runtime of 146 minutes.
From director David Leitch, “The Fall Guy” hit VOD under a month after its theatrical release. The action-comedy debuted with just $28.5 million at the U.S. box office during its opening weekend, short of its projected $30 million to $40 million. The budget for the film was between $125 million and $150 million, and the global box office has since gone up to $171.8 million.
“The Fall Guy” stars Gosling as Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stuntman who retires after an on-set injury.

As expected, Disney/Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” is soaring high at the box office, scoring an unbelievable $38.5 million from Thursday preview screenings.
It’s the highest preview total ever for an R-rated film, and the eighth highest for any film in domestic box office history. With this start, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is in strong position to become the ninth film in history and sixth from Marvel Studios to earn a $200 million-plus domestic launch.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” has been well reviewed by critics, sporting an 80% score on Rotten Tomatoes. But even if it was panned, there is no stopping this film as fans at preview screenings have been gushing over its references to Fox-produced Marvel films much as they did for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and its references to the webslinger’s cinematic history.
It’s still too early to nail down just how high “D&w” will reach, as...

Deadpool is known for breaking the fourth wall, but now he’s breaking down the box office.
Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the official MCU debut of Ryan Reynolds’s Merc With a Mouth and Hugh Jackman’s be-clawed X-Men character, made a massive $38.5 million in Thursday previews at the box office.
The Thursday haul is the biggest of the year so far, easily beating Disney’s animated family hit “Inside Out 2,” which made $13 million last month. It’s also the highest preview gross ever for an R-rated movie. The first “Deadpool” made $12.7 million in Thursday night previews back in 2016, and its 2018 sequel topped that with $18.6 million, which held the R-rated record until now. So, expect records to keep tumbling as the weekend progresses. Internationally — where “Deadpool & Wolverine” is open in every major market except China, where it begins screening on Friday — the film has earned $64.8 million.

Charles Barkley has weighed in on Warner Bros. Discovery’s loss of the NBA after the league rejected the media conglomerate’s matching proposal and chose to move forward with deals with Amazon, NBC and Disney.
The deals, reportedly worth a collective $76 billion, will take effect starting in the 2025-26 season and run through 2036. Some 75 regular-season games will be on broadcast TV each season, up from the minimum of 15 games under the current agreement.
“Clearly the NBA wanted to break up with us from the beginning. I’m not sure TNT ever had a chance. TNT matched the money, but the league knows Amazon and these tech companies are the only ones willing to pay for the rights when they double in the future. The NBA didn’t want to piss them off,” the “Inside the NBA” analyst said in a statement on Friday. “It’s a sad day when...

Terry Gilliam’s “Time Bandits” is meeting a new generation this month, with a TV adaptation on Apple TV+. But there are some familiar elements to it.
The series follows of gang of bandits, traveling through time in an effort to steal as many important (and really just cool) artifacts as they can. But their means of traveling through time and space itself is stolen, meaning they’re also on the run from the Supreme Being.
Here’s everyone you need to know in the “Time Bandits” series.
Kevin Haddock (Kal-El Tuck) Apple TV+
Kevin is the young boy whose bedroom ends up being a bit of a temporal waystation, and who ends up being a hero in the story. He’s played by newcomer Kal-El Tuck, who previously starred in a pair of shorts and one episode of “Andy and the Band.”

Iac chairman Barry Diller signaled on Friday that he’s calling it quits on the company’s pursuit of Paramount Global.
Earlier this month, Iac signed nondisclosure agreements with National Amusements to explore a possible bid, an individual previously confirmed to TheWrap.
But the Ellison family and RedBird Capital Partners ultimately reached a two-step, $8 billion deal with Paramount’s controlling shareholder Shari Redstone that would see the former acquire her holding company National Amusements before merging David Ellison’s Skydance Media with Paramount Global. Approximately $6 billion of that total financing is coming from David’s father and Oracle co-founder, Larry Ellison.
“It’s hard to predict, but I think it is over,” Diller told CNBC in an interview on Friday. “It is unwise to get in an auction with someone who has a pretty much unlimited balance sheet.”

The multi-year partnership will see Stuber finance and produce films via his soon-to-be-launched production company that will be released through United Artists, both theatrically and on streaming for Prime. Stuber will be involved in all UA releases, even those his company does not produce.
Stuber and his new shingle will also have a first-look deal with Amazon MGM and will be based out of the company’s Culver City offices.
Stuber joins Amazon MGM after announcing his departure as the film head of competing tech giant, Netflix, at the top of the year. Under Stuber’s direction, Netflix’s feature business aggressively entered the blockbuster space, courting filmmakers such as Zack Snyder and the Russo brothers, as well as award-winning auteurs like Martin Scorsese. Amazon MGM Studios has entered into a multi-year film partnership with Scott Stuber, the former head of film at Netflix. As part of the pact, the streamer and studio will finance and release movies from Stuber’s new production company under United Artists, a languishing label that once operated under the auspice of MGM. In its heyday, United Artists released movies like “The Pink Panther,” “Rocky” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Network” and the James Bond films. The agreement calls for Stuber and his soon-to-be launched company to produce several films annually. They will be released both theatrically and via Prime Video, Amazon’s streaming service.
Stuber’s new company will be based on Amazon MGM Studios’ Culver City lot. The pact is a first-look one, giving Amazon MGM Studios the initial crack at the projects Stuber develops. In addition, Stuber will be involved in all projects released by the new UA.

Amazon MGM Studios has set a multi-year film partnership with Scott Stuber to finance and release movies under his new production company and to relaunch United Artists, the studio announced on Friday.
The agreement with Stuber’s new entity, which will be based on Amazon MGM Studios’ Culver City lot, also includes a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. In addition, Stuber will be involved in all projects released by the new UA.
Stuber is coming off a seven-year run at Netflix where he spearheaded the streamer’s film division as chairman of Netflix Films. He left the company earlier this year and was replaced by Dan Lin.
The move to Amazon may be a better fit for Stuber, who spent his tenure at Netflix advocating for a more significant theatrical footprint for their films. While he was intermittently successful, Netflix chief Ted Sarandos continually maintained that the streamer would...

In an Olympics telecast that NBC has packed with surprise guests and non-traditional programming gambits, Snoop Dogg may be the most shocking of all.
The rapper-turned-entrepreneur is slated to offer commentary and mix things up with athletes and parents throughout NBCUniversal’s two-plus-weeks of covering the athletic extravaganza across the NBC broadcast network; the Peacock streaming service; the Telemundo Spanish-language outlet; and sundry cable venues. Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, Jr.., seems ready to give viewers something they may not have anticipated.
“My preparation for primetime is being me. Google me. Look me up, dog. I’ve done fighting a bit.

Charles Barkley has weighed in on the NBA’s new 11-year, $76 billion TV rights deals with Disney, NBCUniversal and Amazon.
In a statement Friday morning, the basketball hall-of-famer and TNT Inside the NBA host ripped into the league for pursuing money from big tech companies, suggesting that the league had planned to cut a deal with Amazon from the start.
“Clearly the NBA has wanted to break up with us from the beginning. I’m not sure TNT ever had a chance,” Barkley said. “TNT matched the money, but the league knows Amazon and these tech companies are the only ones willing to pay for the rights when they double in the future. The NBA didn’t want to piss them off. It’s a sad day when owners and commissioners choose money over the fans. It just sucks.”

Traveling Picture Show Company (Tpsc) and Rising Tides have joined forces with Pakistan’s Hum Network for the screen adaptation of Soniah Kamal’s bestselling novel “Unmarriageable.”
“Unmarriageable,” a literary adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice,” transplants Jane Austen’s themes to contemporary Pakistan. The story follows the Binat family’s five daughters as they navigate modern life and South Asian courtship.
The project will be one of the few Western productions to be shot entirely in Pakistan. Sadia Ashraf, who penned the script, will co-direct alongside James McMillan. Principal photography is slated to commence in early 2025 in Pakistan.
The production team includes Carissa Buffel and Luisa Iskin from Tpsc, Sadia Ashraf and Shahla Khan from Rising Tides, with Hum Network’s Sultana Siddiqui and Badar Ikram serving as executive producers alongside Kamal.

Thousands of athletes will parade down the Seine River to kick off the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Friday’s opening ceremony will be a production the likes of which the Olympics have never seen.
For the first time, the festivities will be held outside of a stadium. Rather than watching athletes march on a track, viewers from across the world will be able to marvel at the top athletes boating down the iconic Parisian waterway.
Snoop Dogg will carry the Olympic Torch as it makes its final stretch to Paris ahead of the 2024 Summer Games. The American rapper and NBC commentator for this year’s Olympic Games was selected to carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis ahead of the opening ceremony.
The Olympics is otherwise keeping the identity of the person who will light the cauldron on the night of the opening ceremony a secret, with less than a dozen people in the know.
