For me, it's going to be the first weekend of November camping in the socal desert and exploring some abandoned mines.

What's the next trip you have planned?

I was telling a friend of mine about a trip I took when I was 18 or 19. It was a camping trip to Missouri by the river. I got sunburned horribly while inner tubing but it was a blast anyway. I think I'm gonna try to get back there but probably not until spring

That sounds like a lot of fun. You should definitely plan something fun between now and spring though lol.

I took a tubing trip down a river around the 4th of July. I don't know I'd you're the kind of person that just burns like crazy, but I am. I wore my wetsuit rash guard and was pretty comfortable and managed to escape the sun unscathed. You'll look like a total dork, but it's better than skin cancer, just a thought.
where in socal are these abandoned mines?
Literally just about everywhere. There was that whole gold rush thing way back when... Lots of holes were dug.

Since i started running regularly ive develope a tan so i dont burn as much. But at the time i wanted a tan so said sunscreen be damned and just went for it. Baaaaad idea. I was telling @WeWillKillYourDicks about this... my knees actually got locked in place overnight because the skin mon them got so tight from the burn.
Damn that's bad. I've had some bad sunburn but nothing anywhere near that. The last time my husband and I went to the beach he fell asleep in the sun with the top of his wetsuit down. He literally had a line where his skin went from white to red. I told him he looked like a voltorb lol. It was so bad though that a doctor actually prescribed him pain medication.

If you're actually interested in them I could PM you a couple of facebook groups and you can see tons of photos and possibly get more information about what's around you. There are seriously thousands of them in socal though. They're not in one spot. They're all over the place.

Here's some pictures I've taken from the handful I've been in from Inyo county to Blythe.

Half the reason I'm on there is to get invited to cool events. Back on topic, after this mine trip, I'll be going to another mine exploring trip. The next one is a public Facebook event. Seems to be growing every year, had over 100 people last year.

You wouldn't think that many people would show up excited in a very remote part of desert to crawl around in some dusty old holes, but they do lol.

More local state parks probably. There's one i've been to twice and still haven't seen all of. If the weather is nice this weekend i'll make the trip.
