Is there anyone besides Col. David Grossman that touches on this subject. I found his books to be very thought provoking. I also read a book by Sebastian Junger a journo who followed a team of U.S. Marine Infantry in Restrepo Afghanistan. Im looking for a doctor or medical provider's perspective specifically regarding physical damage to the HPA axis in conjunction with psychological trauma and how chemical changes in the amygdala and prefrontal cortex may not allow for normal function to resume in the HPA axis long after the injury has healed. It doesn't have to be combat specific. Sports injuries, other causes of PTSD, just wondering if there is any reputable research.
