#5 - Chapter Help & Enemy/Boss Strategies

Now we reach the fun part. Ever wonder what the best way to defeat an enemy or boss is?
Tired of having to go out and buy new controllers? Then look no further, we've got strategies out the wazoo!
(mostly anyways)

* Chapter 1 - Ninja Fortress

Chapter Boss: Murai

Murai is a very big, powerful guy. He is suprisingly fast with his attacks, but his range is limited and he is predictable.
There is a potion in the vase to the left. His attacks to watch out for are his basic three hit combo, his throw, and charge.
If you want to fight him head on, block all of his attacks (if he attempts to lunge at you, roll right away), and then hit him
three to four times. Immediately roll away, he will probably charge. Shurikens are useless here. Hit and run attacks will win this.
If you want to be cheap, or safer, do wall attacks on him. You may also damage him right after he charges.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_011504_008.jpg]

* Chapter 2 - Hayabusa Villiage

Mini-boss: Samurai Horsemen

These guys can be a real pain. My personal strategy is to use the Art of the Inferno right away to knock one of the horsemen
off the horse, then quickly dispatch him. Another will appear, repeat once more. Then use the bow to knock the last horseman
from his horse and finish him off. However, if you are patient and/or good with the bow, you can take your time and pick them
off one by one.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/somuchninja_022004_026.jpg]

Chapter Boss: Samurai Horselord

This can be very hard/annoying or easy. What will make it hard, are his minions, the samurai mages. They have an unblockable
fireball, teleport, and are very quick at striking. They are useful for giving you health. Now, you can kill them off
eventually, so if you don't mind taking your time, do this. Then all you have to do is hit him with arrows, and use your
ninpo, which will really mess him up. Overall, use your ninpo when he is close and use hit and run attacks on his horse, because
if you leave his minions alone, you probably won't be able to get a good shot with arrows.

Alternatively, dispatch one of the mages and immediately charge up an Ultimate Attack, and unleash on the Samurai Horselord.
Repeat this process for a quick victory.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/somuchninja_022004_001.jpg]

* Chapter 3 - Skies of Vengeance

Chapter Boss: Cyborg Captain (Machine Head)

He looks very imposing, I know, but he's really somewhat of a pushover. His attacks do pack power. Make sure your Dragon Sword
is at level two before this. Why? You can totally own this guy with Flying Swallow attacks (jump towards him and press Y in mid-air).
If you're at a distance, he will use his gun, but it can be dodged. At mid-range, he will try to swipe at you, and if you stay
behind him and attack, you will be sorry. Hit and run attacks are good here. His pattern is easy to follow, so once you get the hang of it...

[image=http://img40.photobucket.com/albums/v123/wizardfu/561532_20030724_screen005.jpg]

* Chapter 4 - Imperial City Infiltration

Enemies: Black Spider Ninja Clan

These guys are a joy to hang out with. This early in the game, they will 0wn you harder than most bosses. First of all, BLOCK.
The exploding shurikens are not a problem as long as you block. If they happen to stick in the ground near you, reverse wind away.
If you can't, they will only cause minimal damage. (Not if they stick in you. If that happens get ready.) If an exploding shuriken
sticks in you, move toward the ninjas. I have noticed that you can damage them with the explosion. May as well takes some one else down.
I also recommend Izuna Drop - X Y X X X Y. (Purchase at Muramasa's shop)
This damages or knocks away anyone who is near the landing point, leaving you time to perform another attack. (I recommend your ultimate attack.
Hold Y until you've absorbed at least one essence.)

Chapter Boss: None. I'm sure the Black Spider Ninja's were enough!

* Chapter 5 - City of Fiends

Mini-Boss: 3 Red Dragon Fiends

This early in the game, these guys are extremely tough, and if they kill you, it will be take another treacherous hike to reach this point again.
(Did I mention the Black Spider Ninja's? Lots of them?)

First of all, KEEP MOVING. With three of them after your leather-clad butt, it is definately not wise to stand still. Use the walls to your advantage
by performing off-the-wall attacks and of course, the Flying Swallow. Ninpo doesn't hurt, and neither do Ultimate Attacks when you can afford to do them.
With a little patience, you will win.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_011504_023.jpg]

Chapter Boss: Tentacle Fiend

First off use Flying Swallow to cut the tenticals down to size and imediately block after to avoid any spining or flailing tentical attacks,
back up and repeat. When that second tentical falls off hit the ground and start charging for your Ultimate Attack (Hold Y).
The tentical will always drop a blue or red essence thus providing you with your max level ultimate. If you are fast you can even get a small combo

in at the end. The beast should only require about 3 rounds with this quick strategy. Also you should get the Time bonus. I love getting the Battle Time bonus.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_b_022504_005.jpg]

* Chapter 6 - The Monastary

Enemies: Undead Zombies (Ritual Room, location of the Grail)

A veritable mosh pit of destruction. A combination of Dragon Sword and Vigoorian Flails proves to be fairly effective, as well as using your Ninpo.
With the Dragon Sword, use the Flying Swallow to behead as many zombies as you can, so they cannot pin you to the ground. Then use the Flails to take
a couple out, then use your Ultimate Attack. Try chaining Ultimate attacks together to help you along. Use Ninpo if you get in a tight spot and find
yourself near death.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ningaiden_012804_034.jpg]

Enemies: Archer Zombies

Stand back and use your arrows agains them. Or better yet, lob a few incendiary shurikens. I recommend destroying them before you attempt to pass.
If they should knock you off the ledge, you will have to climb back up, and they will respawn.

Chapter Boss: Skeletal Dragon Fiend

The goal here is to disable each of his feet. The Dragon has four attacks, but one you will be hit by so rarely, there are really only three.
The most dangerous is his lunging attack. It is easy to dodge, but it may catch you off guard unless you are a vigilant warrior. When attacking
his feet, he will shoot out bones at you that can be blocked. So, get in a few slashes, block, then slashes again until he does something else.
When he puts his foot down on the ledge, this can be considered an attack, because you can (rarely) get hit by this. I have only heard this,
though, it never happened to me. Now, the last attack to watch out for is when he moves. You will have to jump over his tail twice. You cannot
block this, just jump at the right time.

Alternately, use the Flail version of the Flying Swallow. It gets you in quick and also adds a small combo at the end of the move.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninja_h_67.jpg]

* Chapter 7 - Hidden Underground

Game tip: Red Eye Chamber, Blue Eye Chamber
First thing you will need to do in either chamber is take out the zombies with your bow or incendiary shurikens, before tackling either obstacle.
It will make your life a little easier.

Blue Eye Chamber - Shoot an arrow in to the Eye on the wall to activate a light path. If need be, an arrow can be shot at the base of the swinging
spike balls to slow their movement.

Red Eye Chamber - You will have to time your jumps across the spikes to avoid the swinging spike balls.

Mini-Boss: Tentacle Fiend, part 2

Same strategy as the first encounter applies here. Whack off both tentacles with the Flying Swallow, then unleash your Ultimate Attack.

Chapter Boss: Alma, Greater Fiend

Now here is a boss everyone seems to have trouble with. Perhaps I can make your life easier?
Alma is very pattern based. She packs a punch in everything, but that's all. No suprises. Her attacks are as follows, and I will tell you how to avoid them:

Pillar throw: She throws two pillars from in the room. You cannot block these without taking damage, and a single roll or jump does not totally avoid them, because
it avoids one, usually. How do you avoid this unscathed? Well, there are two ways; Immediately jump to the side and roll upon landing, or roll to the side,
and jump. It's that easy!

Fireballs: You cannot block these, but they are easy to dodge. What you do is, just run away. Run to the side or somewhere, they don't home in on you,
though it seems that way.

Head-diving attacK: Fast, but easy to see coming. Just jump over this, or roll. She often does an attack after this, so get away, fast.

Diving attack: When she does this, it's your que to move out of the way AND you can do some damage to her. Be quick, try to either run over to her
and slash, hit her with a fireball (Ninpo), or my personal favorite, try and nail her with a Flying Swallow attack. Your first attack usually stuns
her, so then you can get in about 4 slashes, I think. Then move away.

Ultimate attack: When Alma is hovering, do not stay close to her long. If you do, she will scream (when you hear the scream, run and roll for your life,
it's your only chance), the ground will glow underneath you. If you are not quick to get away, you cannot avoid what she does. You are sent into the air
by some sort of magic and then she knocks you back into the ground for major damage. I may have made it sound hard to dodge, but again, if you're vigilant,
it will be no trouble. Also, if timed just right, when she is right over you, use the Art of the Snow Storm Ninpo to trap her in a whirlwind of ice!

You may also try hitting her in the air with Flying Swallow. She'll probably dodge it, but eventually you may hit her. Just remember how to dodge her attacks and be patient. Don't panic if you don't have healing items. If you are low on health, you can go to the other room before fighting her and fight the enemies! They will usually eventually cough up some blue essence. What helps is when you first fight her, try to get used to her attacks as I have labeled them, and when you get the hang of them, die on purpose and try her again.

Trouble with save point before her? Before you take the elevator, there is a little passage around there that you can swim to and there is a save point in there. You can spot it on your map.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/hottestninjagaiden_022004_005.jpg]

* Chapter 8 - Tairon Under Alert

Enemies: Machine Gun Soldiers/RPG Soldiers

For the enemies with machine guns which usually come in groups of threes, Flying Swallow and the Guillotine throw work best for me.
Try not to get too close, you can't counter their jabs, but if they swipe, go ahead and counter. If one in the group has a RPG or grenade launcher,
try your best to take him out first. This will make it a lot easier. If you get stuck next to one of them, I suggest the Izuna Drop which will,
most likely, affect at least one of the other two. You can block their gun fire without recieving damage.

Ok if you encounter them with a tank/personnel carrier, try your best to take out the turret first. Get close, jump, incendiary shuriken.
(It will go to the nearest target so get as close as you can to the turret.) It only takes one incendiary shuriken. You have to be quick though
because every place with a tank/turret also has an RPG soldier, which you should take out next. Don't let yourself get frustrated, I almost always get
hit by at least one rpg. Just get up and flying swallow him and keep hitting him once he's down. (Izuna drop prevents gun fire from hitting you.)

This is an especially handy piece of advice for the area right outside of the monastery. If you do this correctly you will recieve the time bonus.
When you first come out of the gate (and you're locked in) keep moving toward the corner where the guards drop from. When the first one drops block.
Keep blocking until all three (only three at a time come out) then use inferno ninpo (I think it has to be at least level two). It should kill all
of them. Now, hurry and move within ultimate range before the essence appears. Charge up your ultimate and release right before the next set of guards
start to fire. The ultimate should kill at least two of the guards. If there is one left, flying swallow. (The importance of the flying swallow and
guillotine throw cannot be over-emphasized.)

Now I know this is quite a bit, but it is everything I use for the military guys. It may not quite be your style though so don't get frustrated if
it doesn't work. If it does work, congratulations, your life just got a whole lot easier.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ningaiden_012804_007.jpg]

Chapter Boss: Attack Chopper

Not really a TRUE boss, the chopper will try to machine gun you to death. Simply block. When the machine gun fire stops, you better start moving
because there are missiles heading your way. Jump and roll to avoid. After a couple of rounds of this, the chopper will simply fly away.

* Chapter 9 - Military Supply Base

Mini-Boss: Tanks

Equip your Explosive Arrows. Keep jumping and rolling (reverse wind). Shoot an explosive arrow to get rid of the gunner. However, you must make
sure that the cannon is not about to fire. If it has fired within the last five seconds, it probably won't. Switch to your Core arrows and attack until
it is defeated. You can usually get about 3 hits in before the cannon fires again. When you see the cannon start to rotate, move. If the gunner returns

Remember, use Explosive arrows to keep the gunner down and use Core arrows to attack the tank.

Mini-Boss: Attack Chopper

For this, the core arrows and explosive are your friends. The core do more damage, naturally, so you will want to use them. Don't worry about ammo.
He does about two sets of missiles and then breaks off, just roll away from these, he fires a cluster in a general direction, they can't home. In fact,
the only thing that may damage you, is his machine gun, and you can block all of the bullets, but you may want to try hitting him with arrows during
this time, too. He is suspectible to arrows after missles and when he is flying by.

Chapter Boss: Communications Tower

As soon as you see the tower, use your Explosive arrows to take out the communication dishes on the tower. To the right is a crate where you can
replenish your arrow supply. If done right, you can have half the tower taken out before the RPG soldiers begin firing at you. Keep moving to avoid
the rockets, and finish off the tower.

* Chapter 10 - The Aquaduct

Mini-Bosses: Electric Eel, Twin Eels

Their most lethal attack is easily their grab. Sometimes it's easy to see coming, sometimes, no. You avoid this completely if you're on the walls a lot.
Don't get grabbed! It really, really hurts. Might even kill you first time. They can electrify the water, so it's a hazard to step in. When they do their
swipe attack, you will see this coming, so immediately jump at a wall to avoid, then do a flying swallow and/or run at them and get in some slashes.
Be quick. The only other attack to watch out for are their lightning balls. Just dodge these.

I find the best way to go about them are using your arrows and windmill shuriken. Use up these first, if you like.

For the Twin Eels, first, as soon as the battle starts run all the way to the far right of the platform.(This allows you to dodge all left eel attacks
except the electric projectiles, just make sure you are as far right as you can go.) I recommend using your arrows (Cores or Explosive), as they do
considerable damage, or use your Windmill Shuriken.

Second, repeatedly attack the far right eel with arrows and or Windmill shuriken. You really only need to worry about the electric projectiles they spit
at you. You can always avoid the whip attack by blocking. Constantly using the windmill shuriken will take the right eel out in no time.

Third, once you have eliminated the right eel. Use the same basic strategy of using the windmill shuriken. Now, however, you have to dodge the electric
projectiles AND the biting/throwing attack. Using the windmill shuriken is very effective but takes time, so don't count on getting the time bonus and
it also avoids mishaps of falling into the electrified water.

This method is recommended for those with minimal healing items. I think to that it may help to defeat them on Hard and Very Hard modes.

Chapter Boss: Laser Dragon Fiend (The Guardian)

Stay close to him always. His attacks are as follows:

Laser: You will hear and see it before you take damage, but he only does this when you are at a distance.

Stomp: While you are close, occasionally he will jump up and then come down, causing a gust of wind to come down, that hurts. It can be blocked.

Bite: Stay in front of him while close and he will eventually bite at you. This causes a lot of damage, don't let it happen.

Stay behind him while striking. You will notice your attacks do damage, but not as much as usual. That is okay, just keep at it. Use whatever
attacks you like. Now and then, he will drop his head as if from exhaustion. Now be quick and slash at his head. Combos I used to inflict good
damage (he takes more damage from hits with his head down): X X X Y Y and X X Y Y

Follow him whenever he runs to get away. When he jumps on a ledge to fire his laser, get under it to avoid it completely.

* Chapter 11 - Path to Zarkhan

Chapter Boss: Doku, Greater Fiend

He is very powerful. Two hits can bring you two your knees. You will want to have healing items before fighting this boss, who is at the end of chapter 11.
The lift in the underground passage takes you to him, so go back to a shop before that.

Now, onto Doku.

He is very pattern based, but instead of memorizing all of his attacks, what you need to remember is he is susceptible to damage right after attacking.
Most of his attacks can be blocked.

Sword throw: Just jump over this. If you're at least decent, you can hit him with a Flying Swallow.

Slash: Self-explanitory. Strike quickly, precisely.

Multiple slashes: GET AWAY! Hit him after this. He will pause for a second before doing his last slash, so don't rush and get fooled.

Grab: Stay too close after attacking or attack too much and he will grab you. This will hurt, to say the least...

Hit and run attacks and using that little opening he gives you after he attacks will help you win this. Despite his armor, he takes a good amount of
damage from your attacks. And for good reason, your Dragon Sword should be at level 3 right now!

* Chapter 12 - The Caverns

Game tip: Platform Puzzle

1. Enter the room from which Doku emerged. Hit switch to move platforms into start position. Grab the Scarab as well.

2. Facing towards elevator. Hit Lowest Left Switch than Lowest Right Switch.

3. If you face towards the door Doku came from you will now wall run the left wall and climb to the switch that is above and to the left of the door.
Flip the switch. This brings a platform over to the other side of the door frame.

4. Jump over to that platform and hit that switch. Now go back to the switch on the left side of that door frame and turn it off.
(Whew ok that switching off is the key here.)

5. Now go to the corner that is to the right of the elevator as if you just entered the arena. Your task now is to wall run to the 2nd highest platform,
grab the Scarab on the door frame, and jump back down to the platform.

6. Now you have to wall run 3 times, towards the corner jump, wall run again jump, and now dont jump but keep wall running. You should just be able to
get on top of the platform. Note: This requires PRECISE wallrunning and jumping and may require you to try several times.

7. Once there jump over to your right so you are in front of the balcony, then hop over the rail.

8. Now go left and complete the last jump to get to the final switch. Your done! Collect the last chest and Scarab.

The final switch raises platforms in the next room that let you escape from this hellish puzzle!

Enemies: Ice Dragon Fiend, Fire Dragon Fiend

Both are very powerful, and very mean. If you have the Level 3 Dabilahro, it can prove to be your best friend here. Keep moving and DO NOT allow either
fiend to bite you as it will take off a HUGE amount of life. If they charge, jump and roll to avoid being run over.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_011504_018.jpg] [image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_011504_020.jpg]

Mini-Boss: Abominable Snow Fiend

The trick here is to get behind it, and slash away. It often turns itself around with one arm, but you can get around this. Just don't stay in front of it
very long. You really can't block it's punches. Another attack you can't block is the ice shards rising from the earth. Just roll around, they seem to pop
up randomly.

Alternately, you can try to be in front of him and lure him into trying to punch you. He will be vulnerable after the double arm slam. Dodge his attacks
and afterwards you can easily get in a combo.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_011504_029.jpg]

Mini-Boss: Magma Eel

Strangely this turns out to be the easiest of all the Eel encounters. When the battle starts get back into the left corner. The Eel will shoot Fire Rings
at you. Simply jump straight up and watch the Ring pass harmlessly around you. This takes a bit of timing but it's not that difficult. After the first
volley run up to the edge of the magma to lure the Eel into trying to smash you with it's body. Run back to the corner and perform the Flying Swallow, then
run back to the corner. With this strategy, you should be able to defeat the Eel without taking any damage!

Alternately, you can peck away at the Eel using arrows or the Windmill shuriken while avoiding it's attacks.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_011504_030.jpg]

Chapter Boss: Fire Dragon

The hardest thing about this boss is the entire level. Before you get to him, because you can't escape from the caverns and because enemies don't respawn
here, and you might have had "accidents" with lava along the way, you may be in a bad state fighting him. He has only one attack that you will always take
damage from, though. If you fit into the "bad condition" category, this will be a tough battle. Be prepared to die a lot until you know him enough to tell
when he blinks! Unless you can remember patterns very well. Well, like most bosses, he has a distinct pattern of attacks. They come at random times, so I
guess it's not a pattern, more like limited attacks, here they are:

Lunge: This is his most powerful attack next to the somewhat unblockable, and will shave off 2/3s of a full life bar, even if you manage to break out of
the entire attack (which is common, but it's that first bite that gets you.) If he misses the lunge, get in some slashes. Always roll away after the
slashes. He may do another lunge.

Fireball spit: Oddly this causes more damage when you try to block. Just roll away from them. There is no splash damage. He does about 2 to 3.

Hot blast of air: You can hear this before it comes, but if you are just watching his movements, you may be tricked into thinking he's going to spit
fireballs, and you will be in for a world of hurt if you are not blocking when this comes. This is unavoidable for as far as I know. Block to reduce damage.
Don't underestimate, he will sometimes do this three times in a row.

If you have Level 3 Art of the Inazuma, you can use this until you run out for a good deal of damage. Also, Core arrows may help a bit, but I would
not rely on them too much. I personally tend to stay on the lower level as you have more room to run around.

when the Fire Dragon comes in slowly, like when he looks like he's resting his head on the platform, instead of doing all the combos everyone else mentions,
you can jump on top of his head, it'll kind of cut to a mini cut-scene showing him trying to shake you off and then you end up doing one of those "Divine Cicada Slashes"
right on his head which takes off about as much life as 3 or 4 use's of Ninpo would do, just keep doing that and you'll have him beat in no time.

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjaGaiden_103103_39.jpg]

* Chapter 13 - Fiendish Awakening

Chapter Boss: Alma, Lesser Fiend (2nd Form)

Alma is far easier this time around. Nothing to worry about. Just use everything you've learned so far on her. She is a total letdown compared to how
impressive she was before. Flying Swallow is your friend. Don't let her grab you!

[image=http://xboxmedia.ign.com/xbox/image/ninjagaiden_e_022504_005.jpg]

Game tip: Pyramid Puzzle

You'll notice a door straight ahead that is held shut. Your main goal will be getting it open. Three other doors on the sides are also shut and have a
marking (two have water, one has a plant). There's only one door (back left) that can be opened right now. Make with the opening.

Head down the hall and grab the Map of the Pyramid from the dead body. There's a door to the left, ignore it for now. Continue downstairs into a room
with a mirror. There's an altar here. Now check out the mirror. Notice something weird? That's right, there's fire in the altar in the mirror. Stand by
the altar and use your Inferno Ninpo to light the way. This earns you a Jewel of the Demon Seal.

Return to the dead body and step through the door. Kick the chest for a Great Spirit Elixir. Go to the wall. There's an empty spot with a water symbol.
Fortunately, there's also a Water Tablet in the Fire slot next to it. Take the Water Tablet from the Fire slot and place it in the Water slot. This
unlocks one piece of the exit puzzle. It also locks you in to fight a slew of Bug Fiends. Kill them and head out the open door. Both of the water doors
in the main hall are now open. Take the new opening and follow the hallway down.

Follow the hallway to the end and use the Save Point. Go back up the hall and go through the door on your left. Kick the chest in the corner for a
Life of the Gods. Yummy. Grab the Fire Tablet and head through the now-open door into the other tablet room. Place the Fire Tablet in the Fire slot.
This brings another round of bugs. Return to the previous room. You can now access a little closet-room from here. Go inside and pick up Serpent, Deity of
Creation.

With this in hand, go over to the Plant Tablet. Pick it up and place it in the proper slot on the left. This unlocks to main door and raises the Pyramid.

* Chapter 14 - Vengeful Spirit

Enemies: Ghost Fish (aka. Ghost Pirahna's aka. Those !@#$% Fish)

On first encounter, these guys will mostly likely eat you for dinner, then relax, pick their teeth and watch the latest Family Guy episode. But after some
practice, you will find that they are really not that hard, and can in fact turn you into the richest Ninja this side of the Fiend Realm.

First, I would recommend using the Flails in conjunction with the Art of the Firewheel. The Firewheel acts as a shield just in case a fish should get to you
mid-combo. Also the fish tend to release Red Essence which replenishes your Ki so the Firewheel can basically be used indefinately. Give it a try.

Chapter Boss: Spirit Doku

Equip your Art of the Inferno Ninpo. Stand back and fling all you've got at him. This Ninpo takes off HUGE chunks of life, and Doku will be dead in
no time! ... Again.

Or for a little more challenge, Flying Swallow him to death. But as with ALL enemies, KEEP MOVING.

* Chapter 15 - The Core

Game Tip: Max money courtesy your friends, the Ghost Fish.

You begin the Chapter standing in a large circular area, with one exit and a save point straight ahead. Stay here, and using the above Ghost Fish strategy,
take them all out for Mass amounts of Essence. Leave the area, save, and return and the ghost fish will respawn. Continue like this to max out your money
in no time flat.

Note: Before proceeding, you might want to take this oppurtunity to return to Tairon and stock up on Healing Items and max out any weapons that you
haven't maxed out already. The next few challenges can prove to be fairly tough the first time around.

Enemies: Red Dragon Fiends, Ice Dragon Fiends, Fire Dragon Fiends, Laser-Eye Fiends, and *sigh* Ghost Fish

As you make your way up the Core, each room will hold a forced challenge of one of the above mentioned Dragon Fiends.
Level 3 Art of the Inazuma and a Level 3 Dabilahro will make this challenging trek much easier.

Mini-Bosses: Tentacle Fiend, Abominable Snow Fiend

The above mentioned strategies should be used here as well.

Mini-Boss: Arch Fiend

The Flying Swallow will be your main attack of choice here, though it is EXTREMELY important to keep moving. The Arch Fiend is most vulnerable just after he
attempts to Dive Bomb you or Charge you. He will drop to one knee for a moment. Now is the time to unleash a combo on him. If the Purple fiends become too
much of annoyance, unleash your Art of the Inazuma Ninpo for a quick dispatch. Most of your damage will come from comboing when he is down, as he
dodges the Flying Swallow very easily. Keep yourself healed and be patient. You will have time to heal after this last battle.

Final Boss Battle 1: The Dark Emporer (some argue Ultimate Alma)

Big guy. Trouble, right? Don't worry about falling off the platform! You must get used to controlling it. It's very cool.

What you want to do is attack each of his shoulders until they turn red, then go for his head and chest. All you have to watch out for are his lasers.
Once you get used to the somewhat new controls, you will be able to dodge these lasers.

Tip: If you are in a situation where a laser is about to knock you, use your Ninpo at the last second and the laser will pass harmlessly through you.

Final Boss Battle 2: The Dark Emporer - 2nd Form

This is very annoying. Your windmill shuriken and Inazuma ninpo are your best friends here, maybe your only? This strategy is assuming you have items
to restore your KI and are at full KI. Now... you want to be constantly throwing your windmill shuriken at him. Does mediocre damage, but it's quick,
so don't complain. When the skulls come out, you can either try and dodge them, but I prefer using my Inazuma ninpo. Usually twice, because after all
the skulls are out (as they hit you, it's a plus because the boss also takes damage), his horned head comes out to try and bite you. If you use your
ninpo as this happens, he'll take damage, and you, none. The Inazuma ninpo is effective for damage here. In fact, this was the only boss I found Ninpo
to be good against.

Overall, this one is a piece of cake.

* Chapter 16 - The Dark Dragon Blade

Final Boss: The Dark Disciple, Murai

Last boss. Suprised? Disappointed? He may have a really powerful blade, but this fight is like a watered down version of your fight with Doku.
All he has is power. Use Flying Swallow and hit and run attacks. Just watch out for some of his teleporting strikes. You'll be fine. If you die
while fighting him, the game is merciful, as once you get to the Dark Dragon Blade, you fight him, instead of having to do those platforms again.

Congratulations! You've beaten one of the most awesome and challenging games ever made.

#7 - Fiend Challenges

The ammount of creatures you face is dependent on difficulty.

[ul][li]60 = Normal[/li][li]80 = Hard[/li][li]100 = Very Hard[/li][/ul]

There are many areas in the game that have a sequence of 60 monsters that need to be killed for a prize.
Please let me know if there are more that I've missed.[ul]

[li]Chapter 7
1. The Ritual Room - Undead Mosh Pit

Go back to the ritual room after defeating the Skeletal Dragon Boss for this Fiend Challenge.

PRIZE = Lives of a Thousand Gods

2. The Monastary Archive, Flying Reaper Fiends/Wolverine Fiends, Pre-Alma

Return to the Archive Room before you fight Alma for this Fiend Challenge.

PRIZE = Spirit of Devils[/li]

[li]Chapter 10
3. Aquaducts - Bug Fiends

Return to the room where you got the Jewel of the Demon Seal and face the bug fiends for another challenge.

PRIZE = Talisman of Rebirth

4. Peristyle Passage - Wolverine Fiends (Purple and Yellow)

The large room with the tall columns just before the Laser Dragon Fiend boss. You know what to do.

PRIZE = Lives of a Thousand Gods[/li]

[li]Chapter 12
5. The Doku Arena - Red Dragon Fiends

The arena were you faced Doku will have 60 Red Dragon Fiends in groups of 3 waiting for you late in the game. Im not sure at what point you can go back
to fight them but they should be there. DO NOT get knocked out the doors or you will have to restart. use the platforms to get some cheep Bow and Arrow
Kills and if you get low on health your in luck cause these guys drop Blue essence 90% of the time. It is a long battle though. For an easier time,
use the Level 3 Dabilahro. One solid combo is enough to take one down.

PRIZE = Lives of a Thousand Gods (You have to climb to get it, sigh)

6. Path to Zarkhan - Wolverine Fiends (Purple and Yellow)

After defeating Doku, make your way towards Zarkhan. Take on the fiends at the bottom of the Great Palace Stairs.

PRIZE = Lives of a Thousand Gods

7. The Great Bridge Area Porta, Tairon - Purple Wolverine Fiends and Laser-eye Cyclops Fiends.

This was the hardest one for me. Those Cyclop Fiends are cheap with that Laser! Use the Level 3 Dabilahro for optimum results.

PRIZE = Lives of a Thousand Gods[/li]

[li]Chapter 13
8. The Save Point - Bug-eye Wasp Fiends

Take on all of them to get yourself...

PRIZE = A Talisman of Rebirth[/li][/ul]

#8 - Successive Play Explained

Successive Play is basically a second chance for you to collect all of the Golden Scarabs that you might have missed during your first play through
of the game.

After beating the game the first time, and after the credits have rolled, the save screen will come up, asking you to save your game.
You should do so at this time. If done correctly it will say Successive Play ON the Save file.

Load the Successive Play Save file. You will be starting a New Game, on the same difficulty that you finished the first time, and with the same
time you finished it in.

* You CANNOT change costumes OR the Difficulty of the Game during Successive Play.
* You DO NOT keep your weapons and items.

If you look in your menu screen, you will notice that you have all of the Golden Scarabs that you collected during your
first game and NOTHING MORE. However, this is not a bad thing. As soon as you encounter Muramasa's Statue (Chapter 2 - Hayabusa Villiage)
you can then trade in all the scarabs you have for all the items that you have enough scarabs for.

Items for Golden Scarabs, once again:
[ul][li]1-9 = Life of the Gods[/li][li]10 = Spirit of the Devils[/li][li]15 = Armlet of Benediction[/li][li]20 = Dabilahro[/li][li]30 = Armlet of Fortune[/li][li]40 = Armlet of Tranquility[/li][li]50 = The original NES Ninja Gaiden 1[/li][/ul]

Example: Say you finished your first game with 34 Golden Scarabs. When you trade them in at Muramasa's, he will give you everything up to
the Armlet of Fortune.

Please NOTE: That he will not give you the Dabilahro until AFTER you have reached Tairon City (during Chapter 8, I believe).
Simply visit him again and he will give it to you, regardless of whether you have any scarabs or not at this point. This is so that you cannot break
through any cracked walls before you are supposed to ;)

Now all you need to do, is kick some butt, and keep an eye out for the Scarabs yo

excellent work oh wizard of fu [face_applause]

how is it that i got the first reply??? [face_shock]

The pictures were an excellent touch, very up to date, even including info on 1.1. Very descriptive, easy to understand as well. :D

Kinda funny how some of the shots were from a different site [face_beatup]

[face_thinking] a sticky faq...the game is afoot, eh?

that's very nice, one suggestion though, I think the items you find during a level should be highlighted in the faq

Please, don't spam up this thread. If you need help where the FAQ isn't any use to you, make another thread asking your questions.

And not spamming this thread, means not replying to this post. ;)

Dang it nathan! [face_tongue]

Okay, you guys can go ahead and ask questions in here if you need help on Ninja Gaiden. I was just trying to make it seem more organize so new people won't have to go through all the post to find their answers.

This seems to be a good place to ask about the secrets. I just beat the game on very hard and all I got was the fiend costume. I thought you guys (IGN) said you could unlock the plasma saber mk II by beating the game on very hard. Can somebody help me out with this.

U guys forgot about the fifth Spirit of the Devils. You didn't mention about the first onr u get at Level 2 after defeating Murai, when u pick up the Ninpo flame of wheels it gives u a KI power slot. Therefore with the other 4 found throughout the game, you have 5 total.

" Increases Ryu's Ki Guage. There are 4 total for a maximum of 5 Ki slots."

I didn't mention it because it's something that you can't miss. I only said where the others were because it's possible to pass some of them up. ;)
