I do not own the rights or anything like that to NFL Head Coach 09. There obviously are spoilers in this guide. I am doing this to help people out who, like me, still love this game.

Hopefully this guide will boost your knowledge of NFLHC09 so that YOU can be the greatest coach of all time. Better than Landry, Lombardi, Dungy, Belichick, Parcells...all of them will bow down to you by the end of your career.

Choosing your Personality
Choosing your preferred personality for your HC is important. It is unchangeable and will affect a lot of things including negotiations, defining moments, team chemistry, approval rating, and everything like that. Your personality will decide how CPU parties (coaches, GMs, and players) react and see your decisions. Also if you sim any part of your career, the decisions the AI makes will depend on your HC personality. Choose a personality that will match how you're going to go about managing your team.

There are 17 overall personalities. Each personality consists of 10 traits. Note that some traits are shared by multiple personalities. Some personalities ARE considered better than others and I'm sure you'll see why.

So there are your personalities. Some are like others, some are unique. Some are pretty common and some aren't. Note that ALL figures have a personality. Coaches, players, owners, GMs, staff members...they all have personalities and traits to go along with them. Personality is a pivotal factor during negotiations and defining moments so try to pay attention to them. You can view personality traits of a player by going to the player card while on the Evaluate Roster screen.

Now that you've chosen your personality, it's time to assign skill points to your created coach. Please note that if you are just going to use an existing coach, you can skip all this and go straight to the playbook selection tips. I am assuming you're creating a coach and it is recommended that you do so.

You are given 25,000 skill points, or SP, to assign to your created coach. I'm not going to tell you where to spend them but I'll give you a breakdown to base your decisions off of. There are 2 types of skills: COACH SKILLS and SPECIAL SKILLS. COACH SKILLS are your fundamentals and basics. SPECIAL SKILLS are specialized skills to boost performance at certain positions. COACH SKILLS are more dependable but SPECIAL SKILLS can be more beneficial when at higher levels.

The coach skill and special skill breakdown is coming up.
