Mimic Tear (Boss)
The Mimic Tear is an Underground Main Boss Fight in Elden Ring. This boss is on the main path that leads from the entryway of Nokron towards the Eternal City that lies past the Ancestral Woods, and must be defeated before you can progress further.
You can reach this boss by journeying into the massive crater in East Limgrave formed after defeating Starscourge Radahn, where you'll find this shapeshifting boss along the main path after exiting the first part of the eternal city.
Boss Fight Guide - Mimic Tear
The Mimic Tear acts as a replica of yourself. Though it begins as a blob on the floor, upon approach it will take your form, and possess all of your abilities and equipped items.
As such, the strategy you'll need to take will vary wildly depending on your build. If you're spell-focused, time your casts so that the Mimic can't catch you out with its own spells. If you're melee-focused, you'll want to be watching out for parries and heavy attacks that the Mimic will attempt.
Keep in mind when we say the Mimic Tear replicates you and your abilities, we mean all of them! This will include any tools and consumables you have in your belt, any spells you have currently memorized, and any Ashes of War attached to your weapons.
To win this battle, you'll need to know your own abilities well, and more importantly, know how to counter them without leaving yourself open.
Something you can do to give yourself an upper hand is to immediately summon Spirit Ashes, as this will provide distractions for the Mimic.
Upon defeating the Mimic Tear, you'll earn a Larval Tear and the Silver Tear Mask. You'll actually be able to summon this Mimic Tear later with Spirit Ashes - take a look at our guide to see how to get the Mimic Tear Spirit Ashes.
