The Cabinet Office published the ‘PATI Administrative Code of Practice for Public Authorities’, as required by section 60(1) of the PATI Act, in January 2020. It is a practical guide to achieving the standards required by the PATI Act and Regulations. It describes the responsibilities of all public authorities and each key person whose role is identified in the PATI Act. It also sets out the administrative process for handling requests in compliance with the Act.

Public authorities should apply the Practice Code alongside the Information Commissioner’s guidance notes and her published decisions. Together, these are important tools for successfully implementing the Act and managing PATI requests.
