Detailed and incredibly valuable

I do not give many 5 star reviews, but this one is worth it. Great for beginners and intermediate email marketers. Detailed information and opinions based on experience. Pay attention, take notes, implement then reread.

If you are looking for one book to give you the basics of email marketing along with a bunch of helpful tips, my friend Matthew's book is for you. Unlike many of these "how-to" books, he's not trying to sell you anything, he just genuinely wants to share what he's learned from his own successful email marketing efforts. Matthew gave me a copy of the book, but it's so good that I purchased Kindle versions for myself and everyone on my team who works with email so that we'd have it as a reference.

Excellent Resource

I have done most of the things in the book before reading it. I've read over 20 books about email marketing. I've written my own, but this book does it in a special way.

I love the way it's written. I craved the case studies in there, real results. Read this to learn more, but don't forget to practice the knowledge given as the author reminds you at the end.

One of the better marketing books

I learned new things in every chapter. I am currently
growing an email list and will take action on the many suggestions in this book. I’m working on a website too and will be adding web push notifications. Thank you for your expertise and insight.

This book is a great primer on email marketing. If you are new to email marketing, the book will cover most of the questions you'll have about where to start, tools to use, how to write appropriate copy, and much more.

The author has extensive personal experience with email marketing, which makes this book's content more authoritative than other books on the topic. In addition to the actionable content, there are also five case studies in the book. The book is broken down into nine chapters:

1. Selecting an Email Service Provider
2. Building Your Marketing List Through Your Website
3. 14 Ways to Build Your Mailing List Independently of your Website
4. Mailing Your List: How, What, and When to Send to Your Audience
5. Writing Email that Inspires Users to Take Action
6. Monetization: Six Ways to Make Money with Your Mailing List
7. Email Deliverability and List Maintenance
8. Legal Aspects of Email Marketing
9. Outbound Email Marketing

One area that was missing was GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). Although this is an EU law, it can have implications for businesses around the world. In light of recent changes in legitimate marketing practices, I was surprised that there was no mention of GDPR within the book.

As someone who does not currently have an email list, but has been thinking about starting one, I found this book extremely helpful and will be using this as a reference as I start to create my own email marketing strategy.

A few weeks ago, listening to Entrepreneurs on Fire led me to another great book to read. This book discusses the importance of controlling your own email list. The book is called Email Marketing Demystified: Build a Massive Mailing List, Write Copy that Converts and Generate More Sales* and was written by Matthew Paulson. By maintaining his own email list and monetizing it, Paulson put together an annual revenue of $2.5 million. Got your attention? Read more

It’s been several years ago now. I had a technology client that was a marketing firm. In a conversation with the president, we were talking about getting responses to an advertising campaign. He said to me, “I can guarantee you a number of responses, I just can’t guarantee you it will be cost effective.” That stuck with me as a fundamental truth of marketing. I had always thought that you might not get enough responses, but, in truth, if you’re willing to spend enough money, you can always generate the responses – it’s a matter of whether that will be cost effective or not.

Nothing new in this book. All the information can be found freely if you know how to use Google. The value this book provides is that it saves you the time and effort of searching through dozens of blogs. It makes a great reference tool for anyone trying their hand at email marketing. The author doesn't promise you instant success but the methods in this book are valuable for people who want work hard and provide genuine value to their audience.

Every self-published author who wants to market and retail their own books (like I'm doing) should read this book. It helped me tremendously to understand how email marketing works--and what to do and not to do. My copy is littered with small post-it notes on at least 30 of its pages because I still refer to it at least once a week! Matthew Paulson scored a homer with me.

As mentioned by the writer in this book, there are few books focus on introducing Email marketing, so I think this book is a reasonable choice for people who are interested in mailing list marketing but not sure how to start, although some principles and facts in this book are too common.

Great for new and old email marketers

This book was super helpful for me learning the ins and outs of the industry I now work in. As someone who sells marketing automation I found the information very accurate, and even brushed up on some things vs I knew nothing about.
