So maybe The Curse gets Stone + writing but misses series? But not getting into new series or episodic confuses me, so maybe it won’t get an individual writing nom

    FYC: Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”)
Martin Short (“Only Murders in the Building”)
    Brie Larson (“Lessons in Chemistry”)
    Billy Crudup ("The Morning Show")

Hacks, Shogun, and Baby Reindeer in all categories

If I’m not mistaken Episodic is a juried category so that miss doesn’t mean much.

It's all about the 3x Best Drama Series winner Succession!

Lol they picked the most random Succession episodes for the episodic Drama. Don’t get me wrong, there’s no such thing as an undeserving Succession episode.

Everyone compares The Curse to Twin Peaks: The Return, and whether those comparisons are justified or not, I have a feeling it’ll go the same route at the Emmys: Writing and Directing but nothing else.

If they don’t nominate Emma Stone, they can pack it up and never hold a ceremony again because what are they even doing in that scenario.

I agree with the Twin Peaks comparisons and I don’t really see Benny Safdie or Nathan Fielder making it in the acting categories (although I do think the latter is in the top 10 now). But whilst I don’t think winning an Oscar neccessarily guarantees someone to get an Emmy nomination I think the fact that Stone has been so prominently in the conversation because of Poor Things could help her stand out as a name-check for an afterglow nomination in what is otherwise a very weak field in a very quiet year. Unlike with Chastain a few years ago I also do get the sense that people seem to be aware of her work in The Curse when discussions happen in relation to her work this year.

It’s also worth noting that whilst Maclachlan could have missed in part because of The Return being too esoteric to connect with the actors branch that all of the people he missed for were in stronger contenders overall. Jack O’Connell was in the limited series runner up and still missed. In terms of the competition she currently faces Stone doesn’t really have that issue with Aniston, Coon, Staunton and Witherspoon being the only female leads who are in stronger series contenders although of course that could change over the coming months.

If FX’s FYC site is anything to go by it looks like The Bear is going to be submitting both “Forks” and “Fishes” and What We Do in the Shadows is submitting “Pride Parade” and “Local News” for writing at the Emmys. All the other shows that have their scripts uploaded have all of them from their seasons.

Not Reservations Dogs having its entire season scripts available to read.

I can barely sit straight remembering Local News, I think it’s the most I have laughed this cycle lol. Pride Parade is also iconic so they nailed it here.

FX when the writers double-nominate The Bear and WWDITS and toss a nod to Reservation Dogs and they take 5/6 slots in the category

Correct me if I’m wrong but if Hiro Murai gets nominated for Mr and Mrs Smith, he would be only the 4th director to be nominated across all three narrative fields at the Emmys, following Tim Van Patten, Ryan Murphy and Paris Barclay.
