A paragraph about how there is no such thing as bias and that rap is an “inferior” genre incoming
Inferior is the worst word to use about this topic. But I stand by my ground as I said a couple weeks ago, male Rap/Hip-Hop artists are pretty much local to places whose main language is english. The proof of that is how female rappers manage to get more worldwide attention than male ones because they merge it with pop. It’s much easier to find someone who recognizes Nicki Minaj (because of her pop influences) than Kendrick Lamar or J Cole or Nas.

July 6, 2024 at 3:39 am #1205879092I’m so embarrassed. I was sure “Not Like Us” was the “I’m the biggest hater” song. Found out it wasn’t watching the MV.

I have a similar opinion but not in the sense “oh I hate Sabrina and her music is awful” but rather “Sabrina is becoming a hitmaker but for some reason I like Chappell’s bold and flamboyant style better, I feel like BNA fits her”.

Now why would you tell me this just when I was considering dropping her from some stuff lol I guess I’m gonna keep being lazy and keep her in some categories that she may easily miss for now

i don’t think it’s particularly helpful though given how US centric the recording academy is
(but fyi, ‘Training season’ ranked at #6 and she was the #1 artist too)

ReplyCopy URLJuly 6, 2024 at 6:22 am #1205879138Btw, JJJMoss and other chart trackers have been hush about SOS placing higher than Midnights all year. If reversed, we would have been getting daily updates on how SOS is lagging.
That was last year’s race and not really relevant to this year’s? But anyway, I always maintained that actually selling was a big selling point for voters.
In terms of chart points (mostly streams) for non-new albums this year it goes: Morgan Wallen>Noah Kahan>SZA.
In terms of sales for non-new albums this year it goes: Taylor>Taylor>Taylor
2 biggest albums each calendar year in actual US sales:

2023 – Taylor & Taylor; AOTY Winner Midnights
2022 – Taylor & Harry: AOTY Winner Harry’s House
(2021 – Adele & Taylor [re-recording]; Adele lost to Harry)
2020 – Taylor & BTS; AOTY Winner Folklore
2019 – Taylor & Billie; AOTY Winner Fall Asleep
2024 is fairly likely to copy-paste 2019.July 6, 2024 at 6:32 am #1205879144Get real! Dua Lipa does NOT fully deserve Record of the Year. Pure delusion.

I personally feel like BNA suits Chappell better than Sabrina since I see Emails I Can’t Send as Sabrina’s breakout personally

Our extremely early contenders for the 2026 GRAMMYs are Coldplay, Lady Gaga (I don’t think she’s releasing an album ‘til the end of August lol) and Harry.
