Do you guys think Mikey Madison could end like “Dolly de Leon”?
Triangle of Sadness is a Palme d’Or winner (like Anora) and in the end it was nominated for Picture, Director & Original Screenplay but no nomination for Dolly.

I want to say Mikey Madison having the titular role of her film makes her far less likely to be snubbed than Dolly de Leon, but sure, it’s a possibility

July 10, 2024 at 12:08 pm #1205882004Yeah, her having the titular role is definitely positive. Also, we can’t forget it was EEAAO year and she would’ve been nominated in Supporting Role and there were already 2 spots taken bcs of EEAAO.
Also, at least for now for this year it seems there are not that many frontrunners/possible nomninees for Best Actress.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 10, 2024 at 5:24 pm #1205882281The more I think about it, the more I see 3 almost locked nominees, already, unless huge surprise.
- Sofía-Gascón. Cannes winner, would make history and title character.
- June Squibb. Raved film and performance, all sympathies on her, no one would hate her.
- Swinton. Blind faith on what Almodóvar could have done with her. Her win was in Supporting, so she could even win this one.
I’d say Jolie is almost locked as well as Maria, for Pablo Larraín, who got Portman and Stewart nominated for similar projects. So only 1 spot free, folks.
Delusional, I’m willing to bet my kidneys on this.

Alana Haim or Greta Lee scenarios seem more likely

Triangle’s reception wasn’t that great to begin with. 72 RT and 63 MC and critics didn’t really push for it.
Anora is far more acclaimed which could make Madison a critics darling and do better with televised.

I hope so.
I’d prefer Saoirse Ronan get a double nom than split votes with herself.
