Updated with this year’s winners.

Days got its 6th win for Best Series, 5th for casting, 4 for writing and directing, 3rd for ensemble.

Deidre Hall, Judi Evans, Casey Moss and Alison Sweeney all got their 2nd Goldies this year. Interesting: Deidre Hall’s previous win was last year for Lifetime Achievement! I think that is the first time a winner in that category has won in a different category afterwards. It was Jane Elliot’s 3rd Goldie award.

Does anybody remember why no younger actor awards were given out in 2012? Was it just a matter of not having enough eligible candidates or not enough interest in the category that year?

I remember that Daniel Montgomery, who was still running the Goldies in those days, suggested eliminating the award because, give how few soaps there were, it didn’t seem there were enough worthwhile candidates to justify having the category. I was against this, but I think most other participants who had anything to say about it agreed with him. So we were allowed to vote for younger candidates in lead or supporting actor, which is why Chandler Massey was nominated for lead actor that year.

^that was my first year I voted and I was annoyed because Chandler Massey would have likely won that year for Younger Actor. I remember I voted for him for Best Actor. He did win the next year though.

^^^ Heather Tom is a national treasure! It is crazy to think that she’s never won. I went back a couple pages in this forum and found the complete nominees/winners list Daniel had compiled (and to which Freeman later added) for all the years since the Goldies Awards’ inception in 2003. Looks like Heather did score nominations (for B&B, OLTL and Y&R) prior to 2012 when I first became aware of and voted in these awards. I’m thankful that at least Heather’s work surrounding Katie’s heart transplant (imo some of the finest acting to ever grace the screen) and Katie’s Postpartum Depression did not go without Emmy recognition.
