I have fond memories of watching Meg Bennett on “Search for Tomorrow” in the mid 1970s. She was essentially the show’s leading actress (along with the stalwart Mary Stuart). Her character, Liza, was involved with Steve, played by Michael Nouri. I loved Meg and remember that she appeared on an afternoon variety special featuring daytime stars.
ReplyCopy URLApril 27, 2024 at 5:32 am #1205816804Daytime Emmy winner Marla Adams (Dina, Y&R) has passed away at 85. She won her Emmy for Dina’s Alzheimer’s storyline in 2020. She is best known for Y&R but she was on many other soaps over the years. She was a favorite of mine, I was so glad she won her Emmy!

ReplyCopy URLJune 14, 2024 at 8:59 pm #1205862536It’s clear that no one really cares about this show here or it’s an example of how boring it is right now. In some cases, it’s also downright stupid. Nicki’s sobriety story has mostly handled well. I didn’t always like Drunk Nicki, but the whole episode dedicated to Jack and Nicki was really well done and good for both (although Bergman has always bugged me).
It’s weird how everyone on the show is a CEO of their own company or wants to be CEO. Summer seems like she’s fifteen years old and is such a petulant brat and she runs her own company? And everyone is fighting over it and acting like COO is not a powerful position, as it is almost every major company.
I think it’s also hilarious how when everyone learned about Ashley’s DID there was no shock, everyone from Tucker to Audra just kind of shrugged as if they were told she likes her coffee with soy milk. I liked the presentation of the alters arguing in the white space, but Ashley then describing it literally made it really silly.
It’s also funny how Aunt Jordan (I think that’s her official first name) was just put in prison without a trial as if she wouldn’t fight the charges even being caught. I guess the law is different in Genoa City.
Of all the company drama I care about Tucker and Audra’s story the least but the chancellor winters stuff is also dull as dishwater.
The show dropped the ball with the Alan and Martin reveal. For one, it would’ve been a lot more interesting and fun if we learned that Martin was playing Alan the entire time and that the real Alan was the one that Tucker bumped into on the street. That he happened to be at Alan’s place, quickly swapped places with him, revealed himself, fought and died or escaped – I really didn’t catch which, and that some of that happened off camera but all of it in the span of like two episodes really rushed the ending of that story. Also, love how Abby hasn’t been a part of her mom’s story at all, nor is she ever included as one of Victor’s kids in any of that family drama.
Don’t care about Cole, he’s always been boring. Glad Michael and Christine are backburnered as the Phyllis triangle was really dragging Stafford down. This show needs a jolt as well. I think most shows have too many characters, but there’s a lot of dead weight on this show, even if they only show up every so often – Cole, Audra, tucker, Tracy, Diane, Tessa, Mariah, Abby, Chase (though he’s fine to look at), Christine, Danny, Daniel, April, Chloe, and Sharon all seem really superfluous. Also, the Green screen has got to go, at least if it can’t be used properly. Really cheapens the look of the whole thing.
June 28, 2024 at 10:05 am #1205873713I started watching Y&R earlier this year while Mama was being sick, she’s better and I’m still watching. Some parts are really good. The Ashley storyline while rife with some soap opera wackiness was grounded with some amazing performances from Eileen Davidson and Beth Maitland. Pairing Maitland with Christopher Cousins? Yes please! The Jordan story was over the top but Colleen Zenk is amazing at that. She better get an Emmy nom next year. It also have some great material for Melody Thomas Scott and Eric Braeden. That Nikki/Jack episode was soapy and dramatic and so well done. I like Claire and those in her universe. I like her interactions with Victoria & Cole and Kyle & Harrison. Summer is useless and jealous, but in a good way haha.
The business stuff however. Y’all, this ain’t Succession. This ain’t CNBC. It can be the start of some storylines, but there is WAAAAAY too much business on here. Some very good actors are getting stuck talking generic business stuff way too much.
Keep it on relationships Y&R, not on the boardroom.
