King is going to be regular on Life in Pieces now.

Glad the switch story is going to end but I agree would be better with Sage around.

Glad to hear Steve Burton’s Dylan is leaving. Recasting the role or are they killing him off?

Bored to death by today’s dull episode ):

I doubt they will recast the role of Dylan.

I’m taking a little vacation from Y&R as my time is somewhat limited right now.

I really enjoyed the scenes with Paul, Nikki and Neil the other day. I know they were short, but it was great to see three long time vets sharing the scenes together.

Finally a decent episode of Y&R – Sharon tells Dylan the truth, Paul visits Patty and then Mariah, Nick tells Chelsea, Chelsea talks about it to Chloe, Mariah talks about it to Kevin, Nick goes back to take Christian home and confronts Sharon and then Dylan… it kept my interest and I esp. liked the flashbacks to Dr. Anderson. But… Sage and Dr. Anderson are missing from the story (and Adam)….

Am I right that Adam is the real father of Christian? Who knows this information?

Everybody was terrific today, even Steve Burton, who I don’t much care for, but esp. Doug Davidson, Camryn Grimes, Stacey Haiduk and Sharon Case (:

Today’s episode was great. Fast paced and kept me interested throughout. Doug Davidson and Camryn Grimes were dynamic. I hope these two get to share more scenes together. Case, Burton and Morrow were all fantastic, too.

I think Adam is the real father, but who knows with these writers. I’d love for Dylan and Nick to take the baby straight to the hospital and get a DNA test done. Can you image their faces if they found out neither was the dad?!

I’m glad to hear Y&R had a good episode today. I have not watched for the last few weeks.

If I recall correctly, Adam is the biological father. I thought Chelsea knew, but I’m not really sure.

Yes, it is good to hear Y&R is having good episodes, maybe a sign of more positive things to come. Hopefully I’ll have time to check out this episode.

Unless the writers decide to change it, which they certainly might (for the sake of relevancy if nothing else), Adam is Christian’s biological father, and he definitely told Chelsea (those were great, subtle scenes for Justin Hartley). When I was last watching, the only other people who knew were Victor and apparently Sage, as revealed in the letter Adam got after she died.

I really enjoyed the Paul/Dylan scenes. They were heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. They have great chemistry together.

I really hope the new writers will focus on great story telling, romance and the vets. I’m sick of characters going on a date, jumping into bed, dating, then cheating. I’m surprised more GC residents have gotten STDs.

On a side note, I’m really enjoying the Hillary/Mariah scenes.

After watching a few of these episodes, specifically November 1 – 3, with Sharon admitting the truth to Nick, Sharon telling Dylan, and then Nick coming back for the baby, I was a little underwhelmed. The actors did a good job with the material, and the scenes surrounding the Christian/Sully were fine in terms of writing, but there’s an almost ingrained feeling of deja vu, especially with the repeated mentions of Dylan having been through this exact thing with Chelsea and Sharon having previously denied Nick a child by switching Summer’s paternity tests. The scenes that sparked the most were the ones when Mariah and Faith intervened, maybe because that dynamic seemed more new and both those young ladies are wonderful actresses. I did like the scenes with Mariah and Paul as well. I feel like I’ve seen a thousand scenes with a teary Paul trying to make sense of something an unhinged Patty has said or done. Without that actually going somewhere for her character, it feels very pointless now.

I probably would have enjoyed this more if I’d watched it before reading the Sally Sussman interview, as she pointed out so many things that are wrong with the show that are just fresh in my mind. I didn’t even enjoy the Kevin/Chloe scenes, and I LOVE Kevin, because I don’t care about the relationship. It was nice to see Natalie as well, though without having seen the background of what all happened I had a hard time making sense of what was going on. (Which is kind of a good thing actually — I couldn’t just watching two minutes and instantly be told everything I’ve missed.)

More good news for Y&R: Kay Alden has signed on as a storyline consultant. Alden served as a writer for the show almost from the beginning. Her years as head writer (1998-2006) were very good for Y&R.

Wasn’t John F.Smith co-hw from 2003-2006? Before that point, her version of Y&R got bad, especially with the Ralph storyline(Was that his name?) and the whole Sharon/Victor stuff.

Sally Sussman’s episodes begin airing this Wednesday, December 7!

Daytimeemmyfan, I’m not saying that every story written by Alden was great, just that I enjoyed the show in general during her tenure as head writer. I understand that writing hundreds of episodes a year is nearly impossible, which is why I frequently advocate for all soaps to return to the 30-minute format. (And perhaps if Y&R returned to 30 minutes, it would enjoy the international success of B&B.)

I’ve really enjoyed the past few episodes of Y&R. I’m very excited to see Lauren in business mode and looking forward to this story. I’m glad they remembered Lauren and Michael’s anniversary too. The Abbott breakfast with Mrs. Martinez was like old times. I know it’s early, but I’m happy with the new writers.

Yeah, I believe you can tell a lot just by watching the first episode or two of a new writing regime, and after Wednesday’s episode, I’m quite optimistic as well. I liked the tone and feel of things, and how the scenes went for emotional depth in conversations rather than a lot of pseudo-drama.
