Okay, after seeing Friday’s episode, I do think they’ve crossed the line with Gabi. I also don’t see why Lani wouldn’t tell Eli what Gabi is up to, but I’d be shocked if she did. Also, the scenes with Ariana, Will and Sonny implied that Gabi hasn’t seen Ariana since Stefan did, which is insane. Remember how much time Gabi spent crying about all the time she’d lost with Ariana because of Gabby and Stefan framing her? I realize that it’ll be hard to tell Ariana that Stefan is dead — I guess, but honestly how many times would Ariana have even met Stefan? Would an explanation be required? And surely they’ve had to explain death to her before. One of her dads was dead for two years!
Speaking of Ari, I loved the ending with her having switched the cupcakes to give the girls more icing and then Rafe apparently having gotten the poisoned one. It was a good fakeout not only with Ciara not feeling well immediately after eating her cupcake but also the earlier scene where Ari had apparently given David the wrong cupcake, making it seem like she couldn’t read the names on them. I also liked that Will and Sonny spent multiple scenes talking about how Jordan yelled at Ari. It makes me laugh every time they ask Sonny if he has time to do something for Ariana or take her somewhere. He’s a stay-at-home dad. Why would he not have time to take her to a doctor’s appointment? LOL.
ALSO, I know Rolf’s done a lot of shady stuff, but honestly, if someone RESURRECTED ME FROM THE DEAD I would at least be polite when he comes over to say hello. By contrast, Will (and Sonny) didn’t seem at all uneasy being around Ben this week, which is fine but also felt strange as something that wasn’t discussed at all.

I’d heard that they were doing something special for Halloween, but I’m not sure what. Considering the pattern that’s been happening lately, it’ll just be the same thing they did last year. They seem pretty stuck on repeating themselves, and not even the good stuff. Gabi threatening to mess with Julie’s pacemaker just like Stefan threatened to deactivate Steve’s eye. Murderous, insane Jordan running around with a baby determined to kill Ciara and somehow blame Ben, for the second time this year. I wonder if the show will even address how Jordan convinced her doctors to let her out of the psychiatric hospital.
Rafe’s fallen pretty far. He’s in the hospital after nearly dying and so far the only visitor he’s had is Ben. Maybe the show wouldn’t be so bent on repeating things if they would actually play out storylines to show how characters and their relationships are affected, instead of just jumping from plot point to plot point. I at first thought the time jump was a bad idea, but I’m really going to welcome it. How great would it be if after the time jump Eileen Davidson was back playing Kristen (and insisting they write her more reasonably than they did all summer)?

Hey Eric Brady, here’s a tip for you. When you go to the place where someone lives, they’re pretty likely to be there. So maybe don’t take Nicole over to Xander’s house and then yell at him for being around Nicole. Between that and cluelessly asking Sarah what hard time she’s been going through, the Eric character has become such a jackass. And it’s so unnecessary!

So now Rolf needs to perform a procedure to give Princess Gina, who is actually just Hope with a chip in her neck, access to Hope’s memories to Gina can more effectively pretend to be Hope. This feels like a new level of nonsense. But I have to say, Kristian Alfonso did a great job in Friday’s episode playing Princess Gina attempting to be Hope but without any current information.

Surprised by Jennifer’s fall – with only a few days left before the time jump (wondering if it will be at the beginning or the end of Friday’s episode?) it’s especially surprising. The double wedding was interesting but I am still upset that they chose Adrienne and Justin rather than Adrienne and Lucas ):
Lani’s fantasy about foiling Gabi’s plan to ruin the wedding was enjoyable.
The show has too much sci-fi plotting for me right now. maybe the time jump will help? Time will tell!
So hoping they can write better material for Chandler and Freddie!

For a while there, I was fooled into thinking maybe Lani wouldn’t just go along with Gabi plans and that maybe she’d taken one of the numerous actions that seem somewhat obvious to neutralize Gabi, but after teasing us that the show would do something more interesting, they just had Lani leave Eli at the altar as planned. Sigh. Considering how much I don’t like this storyline, I thought the scripting for the wedding episode on Monday was pretty good, and Sal Stowers did a good job with it. Lamon Archey was fantastic. It bugged me that the show didn’t even pick up with Eli and Lani the next episode, but were so consumed with having Jennifer/Jack and Justin/Adrienne get re-married that they we had to focus entirely on that and those characters. That felt so tacky, and Jennifer seemed so unconcerned with her cousin Eli’s heartache. In fact, none of the Hortons really seemed worried about Eli, except Julie, on Wednesday’s episode.
By the time Gina pushed Jennifer over that balcony, it kind of felt like she almost deserved it. How could Jennifer have seen what was on the flash drive, then looked at “Hope,” wearing those formal gloves and 50 feet of pearls around her neck, and not known that the switch had already happened? It makes as much sense as Rolf having put that stuff in a flash drive and leaving it at the hospital. Rolf’s been turning Hope into Gina for like 30 years now. Why would he need new research on how to do it? Credit to Kristian Alfonso, though, she’s really committing to this story, and I think she’s done an excellent job of threading the needle of Gina pretending to be Hope and reacting with a certain degree of surprise to all the new information she’s getting.
So, I’m looking forward to the time jump, but also kind of worried. The new status quo could be even more ridiculous than where we are now. I guess we’ll see soon enough.

I am wondering how much the pre-emptions of all the soaps is going to impact them? Does anyone know how long those hearings are going to last?
I saw the promo for the time jump – some of it is awful! I have the feeling they are killing off one of my favorite characters? It is different that’s for certain!

I have yet to see a promo for the time jump! After seeing Friday’s episode, I have concerns, of course. There was some nice stuff in Friday’s episode, like Marlena and John celebrating their anniversary (it is truly hilarious that, considering how many times they gotten married or tried to get married, they can claim basically any month as an anniversary), the use of the hourglass and Marlena talking about Tom, and the ending that we all pretty much knew was coming, when Jennifer wakes up and Jack tells her she’s been in a coma for a year. I am concerned with what might be happening with Hope, Ciara/Ben/Jordan and Lani/Eli/Gabi. I’m curious to see what will be happening with Sarah, Eric, Xander, Nicole, Kristen and Brady. With Kristen and Sarah both being pregnant, I can’t help but feel like they’ll end up with switched babies.
For now, I’m really going to try to put aside all of the many, many reservations I have and just see what happens.
I didn’t realize all of the soaps were being pre-epmpted. It’s been DAYS’ policy lately that the episode gets posted online or on demand and they just plow forward.

So Jennifer wakes up after a year, sexy Zander has glasses! and is posing as the daddy of Sarah’s baby girl, Nicole is keeping the secret, Ben is in jail for killing Jordan (which he didn’t do), and his cell-mate is: WILL!!!!!! (OMG!)… J.J. is a mess as Haley has died, Chad and Abigail are back… that’s what we know so far! (With Will and Ben as cell-mates they will finally have scenes resolving their past trauma). It was, um, interesting! (I believe there is another female character in prison as well, but we haven’t seen her there yet)…
O.K. – why is Will in prison????
