Now that you mention a car crash, that does sound familiar for Michael Hudson and Shane Roberts dying.

I had no idea about the 13 Bourbon Street pilot or anything to do with that show, but I can totally see Michael Malone just transferring some ideas over to Another World and that being the reason why Bobby became Shane Roberts. Maybe Lila wasn’t in a coma but in a psychiatric facility? I only vaguely remember that the situation was more complicated than just a breakup or Shane leaving Lila.

^Gosh, just reading about AW makes me miss it so much! (:

    I still crack up about the switch between Jensen Buchanan playing both Marley and Vicky and then with Donna hitting one of them with a car Ellen Wheeler returned – several inches taller than Jensen! (;

With yesterday being the anniversary of the announcement of the cancellation of AW it is very much on my mind. 24 years ago.

It is amazing to me that both Jensen & Anne had horrific car accidents that changed lives. Anne died Aug. 2022 & the man Jensen hit had his life altered.

It is amazing to me that twice we could have had Ellen Wheeler back playing both twins instead of Jensen playing Vicky only. I’d like to know who it was that was that intent on keeping Jensen on.

It further amazes me that we almost had Anne Heche back playing both twins!

13 BOURBON ST. was a soap pilot with Michael Malone & Josh Griffith, 1997. FOX made an initial commitment for 65 episodes to air on weeknights at 11 pm. It was set in NOLA with a lead female character Marigold Katrina Jorgensohn, a singer wannabe from a small town in Indiana who had come to NOLA. John Beck, Lonette McKee, Michael Park, Henry Simmons & Nicole Forrester had been cast by Meg Simon along with a handful of others. Linda Gottlieb was EP with Michael Malone & Josh Griffith as co-HWs & co-Creators. Paul B. Margolis was an Associate HW. On the strength of the FOX commitment, a pilot was shot. All of Michael Malone’s papers including this script are said to be at Duke University, Raleigh, NC.

Yes, Michael Malone had 6 months at AW. I don’t know what his ideas were to write but it was one of those situations where everything he suggested they said no. He had this idea about Jake being a kind of debonair Cary Grant type so he wrote Jake out of his identity of always having a chip on his shoulder & not being able to have nice things like the other boys could. Left Jake with no identity.

Did Malone write that they moved the iconic swing set from Pennsylvania to Bay City?

And he reached for that 13 Bourbon St. bible & Bobby Reno became Dr. Shane Roberts, who was a pilot, too, from Louisiana, with a complicated ex-wife, which gave Lisa Peluso a job.  A strange 6 months.

It was fairly early in 1993, somewhere in February- April, it was before all the buried alive stuff started for sure.

On DAYS RKK played a character named Mitch when AW’s Sam Fowler’s half-brother was Mitch?! Amazing. I don’t recall that at all!

Thanks to everyone who wrote regarding Tony/Andre. I started watching DOOL around the time when “Tony” and Kristen were married and he was trying to manipulate her and then the whole Aremid saga. So I’ve always had this idea of Tony as a bad guy and I’ve kinda had to adjust that in my head. I like the “good guy” version of the character, and love his chemistry with Anna.

Tony in my opinion was good. He loved Renee so much and later Anna. Andre loved Kate. It amazes me that Tony nor Andre have kids. I’ll never forget Vivian telling Kate “you were married to Stefano and now Andre. It’s like trading down from the king to the court jester”

And speaking of Another World’s Lila. I really liked Lisa Peluso in this role and I LOVED her relationship with Stephen Schnetzer’s Cass.

She was a real class act, nice person, very grounded & one of those so beautiful women who aren’t aware of their own gorgeousness, ya know? I happened to act as a typist for her during a chat on the Delphi Soap Opera Forum & got to know her a little bit.

I loved Lisa Peluso as Lila. It was a role that I would have expected to annoy me, since I was riding hard for Vicky and Shane, but I was immediately charmed by her.

My favorite secret twin was Janet Green on All My Children; twin sister of Natalie Marlowe. Natalie a gold digger who eventually became an upstanding citizen and married police detective Trevor Dillon had a secret psychotic twin named Janet!

I loved how Kate Collins played Natalie, but I really loved Robin Mattson’s unhinged version of Janet Green.

My favorite storylines involving these characters were when Janet threw Natalie in a well and took over her life, only getting caught because she got chicken pox and when Janet was living in the woods of Pine Valley a social outcast known as “Janet from Another Planet” and fell in love with Pierce Reilly.

Not sure if this counts but on AMC after Eva La Rue left the series she returned as Maureen Goorman, who was actually Maria but devoid of her memories.

On GH: Anthony Geary had played Luke of course but also played lookalike character Bill Eckert.

on OLTL: Bree Williamson so brilliantly played Jessica and her altes Tess, Bess, etc.

on GL: Kim Zimmer played Reva and her clone, Dolly.

on GH: Nancy Lee Grahn played Alexis and also played the role of a male butler, who was actually Alexis posing as said male butler. At another point, she also played Alexis multiple personality with a red wig (but she was faking the condition).

oh and on GH Roger Howarth and Michael Easton have both played multiple pointless characters.

Actors who got fired and came back and played their dead characters twin:
AMC: Elizabeth Hendrickson played Maggie and Frankie Stone. Francesca James played Kelly and Kitty Cole.
GH: Natalia Livingston played Emily Quartermine then later on started playing Rebecca Shaw.
Y&R: Camryn grimes played Cassie Newman then some years later Mariah Copeland.
Days: Brandon Barash played Jake and Stefan Dimera.
GL: Vincent Irizarry played Brandon Luvonaczeck and later played his long lost twin Nick McHenry.

For the record, Irizarry was not fired. He left the show to try his luck in California. He had initially only wanted a one-year contract, while the show pushed for the standard three-year. They settled on two years and he left at the end of that time.

Headwriter Nancy Curlee admitted in a fairly recent interview that it was hokey how they brought back the twin, but that the story potential was so good they did it anyway. And boy, did it pay off. Because Lujack had died in a hospital on camera, they did at least avoid bringing him back from the dead and went the twin route.

    Add to the list:

Vincent Irizarry, for playing Lujack (1983–1985) and Nick McHenry (1991–1996), on CBS’s Guiding Light. (He received the first of his thus far four Emmy nominations for the first role in 1986. Irizarry recently was the sole guest on Alan Locher’s The Locher Room with the timing of 40 years since his daytime debut. He and Kim Zimmer debuted on GL the very same broadcast date of November 28, 1983.)
