Jewish streamer ChaiFlicks acquires acclaimed Israeli drama series ‘Shtisel’

ChaiFlicks, the world’s leading streaming platform for Jewish storytelling, has acquired the rights to all three seasons of the yes Studios global series phenomenon “Shtisel” in the United States, Australia and New Zealand and made every episode available for streaming on December 14. The bingeworthy drama – a double-digit winner of the Israeli Academy TV Awards – follows the lives of the extended Shtisel family, a warm, tight-knit ultra-Orthodox family in Jerusalem. It provides unique insights into the daily lives and loves propelling the Haredi society in Israel.

The series had been available over Netflix since 2021 but left the streamer last March and has since been without a streaming home in the U.S. “‘Shtisel’ has become an iconic series,” said Sharon Levi, managing director of yes Studios, “beautifully portraying a unique way of life through engaging characters and involving storylines. We are so pleased that it has found a perfect new home.”

ChaiFlicks has also run its third-annual Hanukkah Film Festival during this month’s holiday, featuring such titles as the Golda Meir documentary “Golda,” “Nicky’s Family,” “Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story,” “The Ritchie Boys,” “Hannah Arendt,” “An Act of Defiance,” “Slavery to Freedom” and “Sylvia: Tracing Blood.”

Launched in August 2020, ChaiFlicks is the world’s largest streaming platform dedicated to Jewish content. It has over 2,500 hours of films, television series, documentaries and shorts.
