Release the GOG Galaxy client for linux
If not, just make cloud saves downloading available from web browser. Seriously... Games are available on Linux, why not make a software or functionalities that go with it ?
At least create a deb installer ! Debian, Ubuntu... Good for most.
Just install Heroic/Lutris
I've switched permanently to linux and will stop using gog since there is no official linux support.
To be honest, i want too. I want seemlessly switch permanently to linux in my entertainment devices, however the dependencies hold me back from doing it.
Linux linux :)
linux :)
Linux, Linux, Linux.
one more linux user, who want to play gog games :)
Dear GOG, could you *maybe* team up with folks from Heroic Launcher, that is basically doing a lot of stuff the Galaxy client is?
+1
please add Linux support for Galaxy :)
Steam is on Linux and working better than ever. Valve has done so much to push forward the gaming ecosystem on Linux. I hope GOG embraces Linux as well. It is the future of PC gaming.
I've been moving to linux, and I'm not going to be using Windows after 10's support ends in 2025. I would donate or pay a little for a Linux GoG Galaxy version.
Recently purchased a Steam Deck and for the first tim ein over a decade I'm actually gaming consistently again, would have loved to purchase more games through GOG but there isn't a native app for Linux so I guess I'll just be spending my money on the steam store isntead. It's a shame as I believe the DRM free nature of GOG is worth supporting, unfortunately they're being left in the dust by Steam when it comes ot Linux support.
Please add to linux
I'm here to add my request. Linux community is growing exponentially. Would do you good.
Agreed!
Been waiting on this for years now. You would have to hold a knife to my throat for me to use windows.
I visited this thread for a long time without seeing any changes, but just to help with the request o/
I have just moved over from Windows for the first time without windows as a fall back and love the support gaming has these days on Linux. Come the party GOG
Me too :)
yeah, add it on linux
the biggest thing holding me back with gog right now is the lack of good linux support, please port gog galaxy to linux
do it, how do you have xp support but not linux cmon bro :3
C'mon just do it!
I would love this, why make for macOS when there are more gamers on Linux???? This doesn't make any sense…
As gaming is moving more and more out of windows ecosystem ( because Microsoft repeated blunders), i think releasing gog galaxy on more platform will be vital. Steamdeck is a good example. I hate buying games from steam. imaging just using them on steamdeck with gog galaxy
Adding my vote - NOW is the time. MS is moving windows in a direction that does not appear to consider what many users want, so more people are moving away from Windows and on to a version of Linux. The lack of a Linux client seems to indicate GOG is fine with how MS is moving, and not attentive to what their users want. It's not a good look...
I've been following this issue for a while, I've read of some collaboration between gog ale heroic but I've seen no progress in project with that, they could just help with Comet (https://github.com/imLinguin/comet) which will integrate gog api to heroic launcher so we wouldn't t need dedicated gog launcher.
But after so much time I think that's just unwillingness to support linux. :)
Adding my request for a Linux port of the Galaxy app.
They literally have Mac support, they're just being lazy at this point, if you have a Mac port you already have most of the work done for a linux port.
GOG support was super fast and replied within 15 minutes. They explained how to play games on Linux while there currently is no native GOG Galaxy client.
On that topic they provided the following:
We are well aware of the fact that our users would very much enjoy a native Linux GOG GALAXY app. While at this point in time we sadly do not have any news to pass on in this regard, if we will have more information to share on this specific topic, we will then definitely let our users know about it via our standard communication channels.
At least that was a very nice interaction with GOG support.
This request is now half a decade old with no progress to be seen.
It feels like the GOG Galaxy Client team is not monitoring the community.
I have raised a case with them copying this thread to make them aware and get a reply on the status about their Linux strategy.
YES PLEASE. I'm in the process of switching to Linux entirely and can't believe Steam is ahead of GOG!
Instead of complaining about all the "stuff" MS is doing, i just switched to Pop Os! and didnt regret it for a second. Especially with the support Steam is giving Linux. It would be awesome if my favourite platform also offers a similar experience on Linux.
Yes, bring it to Linux. The future is in Linux, not in subscription Windows.
With the whole proton project, why is this still not an option for Linux? As I recall GOG Galaxy works on Lutris right?
Agree, Linux client is a must
I would love for this too, having some official solution over third party (like Heroic or Lutris) would make huuge positive feedback.
Please
It's quite sad that even with all the calls for it, they won't even talk about it getting an app on Linux
I would also like to see this. Windows is no longer viable for me and I would prefer using GoG but I do not want so many barriers.
I moved over to Linux ~14 months ago and due to the flawless experience, and Microsoft being dead-set on killing of Windows as a platform, I'm not coming back.
While on Windows I discovered GoG and started moving my gaming over to DRM-free options from being largely Steam-based.
Today I'm making that transition in reverse, on account of the user experience.
I actually rebought the vast majority of Stellaris + DLC on Steam, simply because every update on GoG forced me to redownload the entire game and every DLC and install the separately - and that's a Linux *native* game!
I'm done pleading, just saying it like it is - I'm not buying anything on GoG until there's a Linux client.
I also wish to have a linux client. I moved to linux a few days ago and a gog galaxy client is nto around, I have been adding my GOG games in to Steam as a non-Steam game to get some of them working in Linux, which the ones that do work work without issues, which is most of the games I currently have installed. Many users stay away from gog due to DRM and restriction through freedom, Microsoft is also implementing the same so it would match the GOG philosophy.
If anyone wants to know, moving to Linux has been perfectly fine, yes it is different to Windows and files for software is stored differently but it has been very easy to use and the KDE interface and features is so good it makes windows look so outdated and clunky I can;t see myself going back other than a few games that don't work or to use some art software if I'm unable to get them working in Linux.
Fuck Microsoft.
Dear GOG,
please consider to give Linux users a official client. It's about time.

I just moved to Linux, because I hate Win11 with all the AI BS and ads and my question is: Why I have to rely on Heroic Games Launcher to access my GOG games in 2024?
i'm Linux full time now, i've been buying games on Steam due to GOG's intransigence to a Linux client.
Not buying anymore from GOG without the linux client. Please support your community it is clear that we are a large base.
