How to unlock the Belurat Tower of Shadow in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree - Gate of Divinity
To Gate of Divinity or Belurat Tower of Shadow in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is found in Belurat Tower Settlement. It's likely the first legacy dungeon that you'll visit since it's in the Gravesite Plain. After defeating the Dancing Lion boss, you can ascend the grand staircase, only to realize that you're barred from entering the main gate.
You'll also find the Tower of Shadow Message, which states: "The Gate of Divinity lies in the tower sealed by shadow. That is surely where Kind Miquella is headed. We are no Empyreans, but we must locate the path that will lead us there. I will follow the crosses east."
The Tower of Shadow Message notes that you need to follow Miquella Crosses scattered all over the realm. If you're just focusing on the main arc, then the most important ones lead you further east, namely Castle Ensis, Highroad Cross, the road to Shadow Keep and, eventually, the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.
Map of objectives
You need to do the following if you want to unlock the Belurat Tower of Shadow:
- Shadow Keep - Defeat Messmer the Impaler to receive Messmer's Kindling.
- Ancient Ruins of Rauh - Defeat Romina Saint of the Bud to access the Sealing Tree.
- Burn the Sealing Tree using Messmer's Kindling - This is an important action since it counts as a point of no return.
Messmer the Impaler
Messmer, being the most prominent baddie featured in the trailers, is no pushover. He has rapid, multi-hit attacks that inflict fire damage in wide arcs. He also tends to move around erratically, often leaping before crashing down with great force.
Romina Saint of the Bud
We feel that the Romina encounter is significantly easier. Although some of her attacks inflict Scarlet Rot, she's just a discount Malenia that can easily get shut down by summons.
Point of no return: Burning the Sealing Tree
Once you've defeated Romina, go to the dais at the back of her church arena. There, you'll find the Sealing Tree. Assuming you've defeated Messmer and you have Messmer's Kindling, you can use it to burn the Sealing Tree. This will unlock the Belurat Tower of Shadow in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
Warning: This is a point of no return - If you decide to burn the Sealing Tree, all active quests from Miquella's followers will end or fail prematurely. We recommend holding off until you've completed quest arcs so you can obtain more rewards.
