The Boys Creator Discusses That Graphic Butthole Scene

Season 4 has one of the most graphic sequences in the show so far, and here's how it came together.

The first episode of The Boys Season 4 includes a shocking and graphic scene involving a man's butthole, and series creator Eric Kripke has now shed a little more light on this scene and how it came together. This story contains spoilers for The Boys.

In the scene, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) sends a text to Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) with what she believes to be the information about Hughie (Jack Quaid) that she asked Butcher for. But when Victoria clicks on the link, she sees a man's butthole instead because Butcher was only fooling with her. We've now learned that Doumit's reaction in this scene was genuine shock, according to Kripke.

He said on social media that Doumit viewed the butthole for the very first time during the filming of this scene. "All authentic," Kripke said of her reaction to the shocking image.

Kripke went on to say that the butthole in question is not Urban's. Instead, Kripke said about 20 people sent in their own shots for consideration, and he personally chose the one that would be in the episode. "Yep, Hollywood is a glamorous dream factory," Kripke said.

Kripke previously told The Hollywood Reporter that every episode of The Boys Season 4 includes at least one "totally f**king bananas" moment, and the butthole sequence surely lives up to that. Only the first three episodes of the show are out now, but Kripke said there is a sequence in Episode 6 that "makes me cover my mouth with my hands every time I watch it."

Kripke admitted that the Season 3 episode "Herogasm" may remain the show's most shocking sequence in terms of its scope and scale, but Season 4 delivers the goods, too, when it comes to wild moments.
