New Deadpool And Wolverine Story Details Revealed

Here's where things stand for Ryan Reynolds' character after Deadpool 2.

In retrospect, Deadpool 2 has the perfect setup for a MCU sequel after Ryan Reynolds' title character "borrowed" a time machine and used it save his beloved Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) from an early grave before righting some other wrongs. But if fans were expecting Wade Wilson to have a happy ending, Deadpool and Wolverine is shooting that notion down a month before the film's release.

Deadpool and Wolverine is the cover story for the latest issue of Total Film, which features new details about where things stand after Deadpool 2. According to the report, six years have passed since Wade changed history and prevented Vanessa's murder. But there have been some unpleasant employment and relationship status changes since then.

The first big change is that Deadpool has gone from an international assassin to a car salesman, and he's not very good at his new job. The report also notes that he's "hawking Blind Al's blood-pressure meds to make rent." But the thing that's freaking out fans is that Vanessa has apparently moved on from Wade with a new boyfriend. This raises the question about who Vanessa's new lover is. In the comics, Vanessa left Wade and eventually ended up in a relationship with Garrison Kane, a cyborg who was once on a team with Cable. But since we haven't heard anything about Kane being in this movie, that may narrow down the suspects to some of the returning characters from Deadpool and Deadpool 2.

The trailer for the film has shown Deadpool's friends gathered for his birthday, including Dopinder (Karan Soni), Colossus (Stefan Kapičić), Shatterstar (Lewis Tan), and Peter (Rob Delaney). We can probably rule out Dopinder and Colossus, but it would really twist the knife in Wade if either Shatterstar or Peter was dating Vanessa. Her new boyfriend could still be another character entirely, but that's all we have to go on for the moment.

Deadpool and Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26.
