Every console has its must-play title, and for Switch owners, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is that game. But if you don't own Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or want to buy it as a gift--perhaps bundled with the Animal Crossing Switch Lite bundle for $159--you can purchase the bestseller at Walmart for $30 ahead of Amazon's Prime Day sale. This 50%-off deal has been going in and out of stock, so you'll want to snag it as soon as possible.

It's worth mentioning that Walmart's game deals are sometimes region-based, so the $30 price may not be available for you, but the only way to know is to click and find out. This offer isn't officially marked as a Walmart Deals event promotion--that sale ends tonight, July 11, at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET--so it's unclear when it will expire.

Walmart's deal on the Super Mario Party Joy-Con bundle does expire tonight, so if you want an extra pair of controllers and an additional multiplayer game alongside Mario Kart, you should grab it while you. It's quite the deal, as it comes with a pair of red and blue Joy-Con controllers and a digital copy of Super Mario Party for only $69.

In case you've missed out on it or you only recently got a Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is more than just a port of the Wii U classic. All the kart-racing fundamentals are in place here, alongside the fun combat and twisty courses, but several big quality-of-life changes were added when the game first launched back in 2017. Since then, it has also received a stack of free and premium DLC, expanding the roster of playable characters and tracks to race on.

It's also a superb multiplayer game, and if you're looking to introduce your friends and family to the dread of a blue tortoise shell, it's the best game for the job. You're also going to face plenty of rivals online, as with 61.97 million units sold as of March 31, 2024, there are a lot of people wanting to burn some rubber in friendly competition. If you're looking to add another discounted game to your cart, you can also check out The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Maker 2 for $30 each.

Breath of the Wild might be seven years old but it has lost none of its magic since it first arrived as a Switch launch title. Breath of the Wild raised the bar for Legend of Zelda games as it combined rock-solid action and open-world exploration with creative tools to help you overcome obstacles in the game.

Meanwhile, Super Mario Maker 2 is brimming with both Nintendo-made and user-created Mario side-scrolling fun. If you're feeling creative, you can make your own courses.

Over at Target, you can also check out a huge sale on Nintendo Switch games, as these have been discounted to $35 each. Some great titles are getting a rare price cut here, like Super Mario Odyssey, Pikmin 4, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and more. Target's deals are available through July 13.

You'll need to be a Target Circle member to qualify for the discounts, but signing up is free and quick to do. The added bonus is that you'll get even more price cuts on games and other items as part of Target Circle Week.
