Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2 has one of the biggest action sequences ever, according to a Paramount executive.

Although the film is just five months away, Paramount hasn't dropped a trailer yet for Gladiator 2. The sequel to Ridley Scott's Oscar-winning film, Gladiator, will feature a largely new cast as the director returns to continue his story. Earlier this week, Paramount shared a Gladiator 2 trailer at CineEurope, where one of the studio's executives teased the film's epic action.

According to Paramount's president of international theatrical distribution, Mark Viane, Gladiator 2 features one of the "biggest action sequences ever put on film." Via Variety, Viane was also featured in a Gladiator parody video screened for European buyers at CineEurope in which he assumed Russell Crowe's role of Maximus. Unlike the Gladiator 2 trailer screened at the event, Viane's video is unlikely to be seen in America any time soon.

Gladiator 2 will feature Connie Nielsen reprising her role as Lucilla from the original movie. However, Lucilla's son, Lucius Verus, will now be played by Paul Mescal instead of Spencer Treat Clark. The story takes place 15 years after Maximus' death and Lucius' disappearance. In that time, Lucius has reinvented himself as a warrior.

Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington both have leading roles in the film as well. Pascal will play an ex-military commander who, like Maximus before him, now finds himself stripped of his rank as he is forced to fight in the arena as a gladiator. Washington probably won't be getting any action scenes, since his character is a former slave who is now a wealthy merchant.

Stranger Things and Fantastic Four's Joseph Quinn is co-starring as Roman co-emperor Gaeta, the man who is sharing power with co-emperor Caracalla (Fred Hechinger). The rest of the cast includes Derek Jacobi, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, May Calamawy, Tim McInnerny, and Alexander Karim.

As announced at CineEurope, Gladiator 2 will now be released internationally on November 15. However, fans in America will still have to wait until November 22 to watch the sequel.
