It's hard to believe that it's been three decades since the third Beverly Hills Cop movie. But this summer, Eddie Murphy's biggest franchise is returning on Netflix with Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. A lot of things have changed in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills in the 30 years since Beverly Hills Cop 3. But the one thing that remains the same is Murphy's Axel Foley, who just won't take no for an answer in the new trailer for Axel F.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 has been in-and-out of development since the mid-90s. In 2011, there was even a pilot episode for a Beverly Hills Cop TV series that would have followed Axel's son as the main character while Axel was the chief of police in Detroit. Murphy made a cameo appearance in the Beverly Hills Cop pilot, but the show wasn't picked up to series. For Axel F, Murphy's main character has a daughter, Jane Saunders (Taylour Paige), instead of a son. Jane is also somehow tied into the criminal conspiracy that brings Axel back to the west coast, but the trailer is very vague about the story details.

Jane's ex-boyfriend, Detective Bobby Abbott (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), is Axel's defacto new partner in the film. But there will be some familiar faces from the previous movies, including Lieutenant William "Billy" Rosewood (Judge Reinhold), Sergeant John Taggart (John Ashton), Bronson Pinchot as Serge, and Paul Reiser as Detective Jeffrey Friedman.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will hit Netflix on July 3.
