CoD: Modern Warfare 3 And Warzone - How To Unlock The Sledgehammer Melee Weapon
Season 4 Reloaded adds a new way to melee your opponents, and here's how you unlock it.
Call of Duty's Season 4 Reloaded update is live in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, bringing maps and modes themed around mutations for the new Altered Strain seasonal event. This midseason update also adds the sledgehammer melee weapon. Here we'll guide you through all the ways to unlock it for use.
How to unlock the Sledgehammer
The sledgehammer is described as a 20-pound slugger that offers an assortment of moves, including swings, an overhead attack, and a pole butt.
This melee weapon can be unlocked by completing any five weekly challenges from the Week 5 challenge list. There are 21 challenges in total for the week, spanning multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, but you can mix and match any five.
Multiplayer challenges week 5:
- Get 30 operator assists
- Get 15 operator one-shot kills with recommended shotguns
- Perform three finishing moves on enemy operators
- Get two operator fury kills with a recommended weapon
- Get 10 operator kills with the gun butt of a recommended weapon
- Get 12 operator kills with claymores, proximity mines, or C4
- Get three operator melee double kills
Zombies challenges week 5:
- Complete 10 contracts
- Get 250 1-Shot-1-Kills with a Pack-a-Punched recommended shotgun
- Perform five finishing moves on mercenaries
- Get 5 rapid kills 30 times with a recommended assault rifle
- Get 75 kills with the gun butt of a recommended weapon
- Get 75 kills with claymores, proximity mines, or C4
- Get 10 kills without being hit 20 times with a recommended melee weapon
Warzone challenges week 5:
- In Warzone's Fortune's Keep, get 10 operator kills in the North Region (Gatehouse, Keep, or Terraces)
- In Warzone's Fortune's Keep, get 10 operator kills in the East (Konni Outpost, Lighthouse, Pier, or Winery
- In Warzone, place in the top 10 five times
- In Warzone, open 50 loot caches
- In Warzone's Fortune's Keep, get 10 operator kills in the West (Graveyard, Overlook, or Town)
- In Warzone's Fortune's Keep, get 10 operator kills in the South (Ground Zero)
- In Warzone, complete 10 contracts
Additional Zombies unlock method
The sledgehammer can also be unlocked through a successful exfil in Zombies. If a friend has this new weapon already, just invite them to play a round of Zombies with the sledgehammer as their insured weapon. They can drop the melee weapon for you to pick up at the start of the match, and then you just need to successfully exfil with it. You might even get lucky and loot an enemy player who has this weapon equipped. This Zombies unlock method works for any weapon in the game.
Store bundle
Shop bundles usually feature new weapons to give an additional way to gain access to a new weapon without completing the unlock requirements. Currently, the in-game shop doesn't feature the sledgehammer in any bundles, but one will likely arrive in a future shop update.
