Simply put, the partnership between ShotSpotter and Fusus has already proven to be a valuable collaboration and powerful resources for agencies across the country when solving gun-related crimes was critical. Both tools have been crucial in enhancing situational awareness and intelligence, investigations, and improving response capabilities for first responders.

This integration has not only brought together two landscape-changing solutions to police, but they’ve also opened the door for agencies to obtain actionable evidence for crimes in ways not holistically available for officers.

With this partnership, ShotSpotter gunfire detection alerts activate private and public cameras connected to the Fusus system in a pre-designated vicinity around the gunfire. This has helped identify suspects and witnesses and speed up investigative processes.

Both ShotSpotter and Fusus have played a significant role in various investigations for the numerous law enforcement agencies in cities like Winston-Salem which includes shootings, homicides and kidnappings.

The combination of available video and gunshot detection alerts are giving agencies the advantage when it comes to real-time community policing and shortening the amount of time it takes to solve crimes in communities that would have normally taken weeks to months.

Successes have led Manchester Police in New Hampshire to launch both ShotSpotter and Fusus with each other for the safety of their schools. There are also criminal events that have highlighted their effectiveness for homicide cases for places like Rocky Mount, North Carolina

This pairing has been pivotal in several cases throughout the United States. In West Palm Beach, a shooting occurred at a gas station parking lot, which turned out to be a frequent problem area. ShotSpotter detected the gunfire and with the Fusus integration, the cameras in the area immediately activated and alerted the nearby authorities. They were able to obtain information and multiple angles on the suspect's vehicle leaving the scene and capture clear evidence from a camera on a side street.

“The rising tide of gun violence, most of which is unreported, has police across the country turning to technology that improves their awareness of these shootings and ability to reduce response times,” said Sam Klepper, SVP of Marketing & Product Strategy at ShotSpotter. “Helping law enforcement protect our communities is our top priority and the Fusus system complements ShotSpotter’s capabilities by tying all the necessary pieces together for a rapid, precise police response to gunfire, enhanced situational awareness, and critical investigatory information.”

Officers, through this relationship, can respond much more efficiently to reports of gunfire and connected cameras through Fusus Real Time Crime Center platform enable investigators to actually see what led up to a shooting incident. It is another example of how to maximize existing infrastructure within cities that want to do more for their public safety ecosystems.
