Police said in an update early on Wednesday morning that a policeman had been injured in the explosions that targeted Borussia Dortmund’s team bus on Tuesday evening.

The German football team’s bus was hit by three explosions at around 1915 CET as it set off for their stadium in Dortmund for a match against French side AS Monaco.

Marc Bartra, one of Dortmund’s centre backs, suffered a fractured arm and shrapnel wounds, and was operated on last night.

In an update early on Wednesday, police said that one of their motorcyclists, who had been escorting the bus to the stadium, had also been injured, and had suffered a blast trauma as a result of the explosions.

They also said that a fourth suspicious object that had been found near the site of the explosions had turned out to be debris.

The motive for the attack remains unclear. The game has been rescheduled for this evening, and will go ahead amid a heavy police presence in Dortmund.
