The podcast crew recently traveled to Cambridge to speak with Esther Duflo, development economist and a co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at MIT.

Duflo won the John Bates Clark Medal in 2010 and is the co-author of Poor Economics, which was the FT Book of the Year in 2011. She and Cardiff discuss the latest findings in poverty economics, the importance of political institutions, the debates over the usefulness of randomised control trials and much more.

The full interview is below. Check back next week for a transcript of the conversation.
