ForbesNYT 'Strands' Hints, Spangram And Answers For Wednesday, July 10th

I always refer to Thursday as Thor’s Day lately, mostly because I think it’s more fun. And more interesting. And dorkier. All the things. I just like thinking about how the days and months—how time itself—is shaped by the gods and emperors of the past, and by seasons and celestial bodies. It’s a reminder of how small we are, though not in a bad way. We’re part of something greater, something that has been going on for a long time and will—hopefully—go on for a long time after we’re gone.

In any case, we’re here to solve today’s Strands puzzle. The latest game on the NYTs Games App is a lot of fun—a classic twist on those word grid games we played as kids. The big difference? Every single letter on the grid belongs to a word, and every word belongs to a theme.

Let’s tackle today’s puzzle, shall we?

What Is Today’s Strands Hint?

Scroll slowly! Just after the hint for today’s Strands puzzle, I’ll reveal what the answer words are.

The official theme hint for today’s Strand puzzle is: Loaded lunch

Here’s an extra thematic clue to help guide you to the solution: Just don’t boil ‘em, mash ‘em or stick ‘em in a stew if you want to eat ‘em this way.

What Are Today’s Strands Answers?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Strands answers.

I’ll give some hints for each word before I show the answers, though this was a pretty easy Strands especially if you’re young at heart. Here are the first two letters of each word so you can try to guess them first:

  • CH
  • BU
  • BA
  • CH
  • BR
  • CH
  • BA

I realized after typing this that THREE of the words start with CH and the rest all start with B (two with BA). Weird!

Today’s Spangram

Before we list all the words, I’ll tell you today’s Spangram and show you where that is on the grid.

This is your final spoiler warning!

Today’s Strands spangram is . . .

BAKEDPOTATO

Here’s where the Spangram is on the grid:

If you need extra help, spoilers below!

Here’s the full list of words:

  • CHILI
  • BUTTER
  • BACON
  • CHIVES
  • BROCCOLI
  • CHEDDAR

Today’s Strands Breakdown

I solved this Strands in under a minute probably because I’m just too into food—foodie, maybe, but definitely someone who loves to eat too much. I got BUTTER first and then straight away found BAKEDPOTATO, which I was already suspecting because of “Loaded” in the hint. From here, CHILI, BACON and CHIVES. BROCOLLI threw me off because I don’t think I have ever had it in a loaded baked potato, but maybe I just don’t remember. Then CHEDDAR and we’re done! No hints needed!
