The first year of the COVID outbreak, I was living in China and was curious about what the corona virus looked like. Using Flickr, I discovered NIAID through the hashtag search and was blown away by their high quality micrograph images. Even though these were scientific images, I saw NIAID as an abstract painter using geometrical shapes and saturated colors to create these images. I can't explain but their research and scanning of these images really inspire me. As a street photographer I use my camera like a microscope to comb through society and find interesting candid images of people that we tend to overlook. I'm always excited when NIAID uploads their newest scans and for the past three years have never had a loss of interest in their work. NIAID, if you ever need some on-the-job portraits, I'm from the Northern Virginia area and feel free to send an email. ありがとうございます~
