The Devious Dreams campaign launched on March 18th to provide deviants with an opportunity to reach for their artistic evolution by awarding $20,000 in prizing to deviants with art-inspired dreams. The community’s response to Devious Dreams has been unbelievably inspiring and we want to thank everyone for participating, sharing your creative visions, and even just commenting to support artistic endeavors! If you aren’t familiar with Devious Dreams, there’s still a chance to put your dream forward! We want to hear about an art-related project you wish you could undertake, and what you need in order to make it a reality.

What People Have Said So Far! :eager:

“Part of the excitement is seeing the different types of projects people have come up with. I’ve been reading all the comments since day one and I invite others to do the same. Some people have shared community projects, personal projects, or are simply seeking the means to continue doing the work that they’re currently doing. But they’re all equally as passionate at their craft. It’s definitely going to be interesting to see what happens in the end and, hopefully, even if you don’t leave with a monetary prize, you’ll leave with a new friend (or friends), new knowledge, and an increased drive to get to do what you want in the long run.” —savagefrog

“It's such a great opportunity for artists to turn a dream into a reality and the best thing is that to apply is as simple as presenting your project in a comment! I think it’s a great initiative from DeviantArt, an opportunity to support the artistic community in a very real way, something that I don't see often in other sites.” —thiefoworld

“Giving people an opportunity to have their dream granted is great, especially for those who are disabled like myself, or just can't get the funds to make things happen. My group, @My-Lumia is about helping people by giving them characters to bond with and use freely, preferably with the help of a therapist, through the use of creative activities. It’s all about self improvement, facing challenges, having a place to have fun with others, and much more. I was able to obtain a super group as part of the Devious Dreams event, for which I am grateful. Because of the Devious Dreams project, I have gotten more people who are interested in helping, and have moved to make things happen in what ways I can.” —celestialsunberry

Creative Participation! :wizardhat:

We’ve been avidly reading through the thousands of comments on the Devious Dreams journal and enjoying the wide variety of ideas that everyone has put forward! Some projects have been grand, sweeping ideas that would take a lot of individual work, while others have been more modest projects involving upgrading old hardware or getting art supplies to create more of what they’re already working on. Some of you have shared ideas and are supportive of one another’s projects, like this conversation between retr0dude and celiest, and we love that! Thank you for showing support for your fellow artists!

A few of you have come up with some humorous ideas, including a few that reminded us of a familiar Kickstarter project from 2014, like this one from rubenraphaelart:

Making Dreams a Reality! :star:

Because of the amazing community response to Devious Dreams, we started funding some creative dreams early, and actually awarded an additional $2,500 in prizing last week to help some worthy deviants strive for their creative futures. Ranging from things like pen nibs and Photoshop subscriptions to pottery wheels and oil paints, these deviants put forward their goals and are going to have their chance to explore those ideas!

We also recently awarded another $2,000 in prizing to some deserving deviants as part of a Facebook livestream! Performer and voice actress Erika Ishii hosted the festivities, featuring voice actor Gary Anthony Williams doing readings of literature submitted to DeviantArt, clay sculpting games with @humblehills @ekud and @HeartsUnchained and much more! If you didn’t get a chance to see the stream when it was happening live, have no fear! You can still watch the full video!
