At 53 pounds, the Adventure Neo Allroad EQ is on the light side for an e-bike, which may be why it has a similar feel to a conventional, non-electric bicycle. That could be a plus for some buyers—CR testers found it easy to climb hills without assistance from the electric motor—but others may take issue with its middling battery range. This model has seven speeds of bicycle gearing to help with pedal effort on hills, but the hub-mounted electric motor directs five levels of e-assist directly to the rear wheel, where they won’t benefit from gear changes. The fenders, racks, and other accessories are of good quality, but the LCD display is a bit basic. A set of large mountain bike tires make the bike a breeze to ride on on easy unpaved trails. However, without a suspension system and electric power routed through the gearing, this bike will be better used as a commuter or cruiser than as something anyone would want to take on more serious offroad trails.
