The B-Class is the first all-electric car that Mercedes-Benz has offered in the U.S.
It has about 85 miles of range and its 36 kWh lithium-ion battery can be replenished in four hours.
The B-Class seats five, and the battery pack doesn't intrude on passenger or cargo space.
However, it feels rather outdated, thanks in part to its stiff ride and clumsy handling, and is neither particularly quick nor very quiet.
It's also one of the least-efficient electric cars on the market.
A suite of advanced safety and convenience features is available, including a system that lets the driver check on the charging status via a smartphone.
