Talking Cars 378: How Pandemic-Related Shortages Affect Winter Driving Prep

Our panel also discusses the importance of being an aware consumer

You step into your car on that first chilly fall morning and realize that your tire pressure monitor is telling you that the pressure may be low. That may be one of the first signs that winter’s arrival isn’t that far away. In the spirit of being prepared, this week’s episode focuses on ways you can get both your car and yourself ready for cold-weather driving. We also discuss how supply chain issues and changes in driving habits associated with the COVID-19 pandemic mean that prepping even earlier than usual may be your best bet.

In this episode, we also welcome a special guest: Consumer Reports’ president and CEO Marta Tellado. We discuss the inspiration for her recently released book, "Buyer Aware." We focus on how being an aware consumer relates to cars today and in the future, and how the issues consumers need to be mindful of are constantly changing.

Audience question: How did each of you get to a position where testing and talking about cars became your job?
