The midsized Audi Q6 E-Tron SUV uses the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) chassis developed with Porsche for use throughout the Volkswagen Group, including underpinning the Porsche Macan Electric.
It is 4 inches longer and about 3 inches wider than the Q5, although it is the same height.
It launches as the 422-hp Q6 E-Tron and sportier 483-hp SQ6 E-Tron, each with all-wheel drive and the ability to briefly boost horsepower for rapid acceleration in launch mode.
Audi estimates the range will be over 300 miles.
Later, rear-wheel drive drivetrains and a coupe-like Sportback body style will be added to the line-up.
