Juan Alberto Arguello Garcia Pertusa, Ph.D., is a Test Program Leader for Consumer Reports’ Product Safety and Sustainability teams. He develops risk assessments for product safety to uncover potential hazards for consumers and has worked on CR’s Green Choice designation, which evaluates products’ impact on the environment, including water efficiency, energy efficiency, durability, emissions, and waste.
Prior to joining CR, Juan Alberto was a science teacher in New York City and spent a decade as a professor of electronics technology at Universidad Europea in Madrid. He previously conducted research in the field of batteries and supercapacitors as a postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Council. He also has experience teaching physics, computer science, robotics, and mathematics at schools in the Madrid area.
Juan Alberto holds a Ph.D. in Multidisciplinary Engineering from The Spanish National Research Council and European University of Madrid. He has a Master of Science in Energy and Fuel from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
