    David Wan

    Former CEO and board member of Harvard Business Publishing

    Member of Consumer Reports’ Board of Directors since 2023. Mr. Wan is the former CEO and board member of Harvard Business Publishing (HBP). He currently serves as Advisor to the corporation. HBP’s mission is to improve the practice of management and its impact in a changing world. Through its magazine (Harvard Business Review), websites, books, case studies, videos, online learning programs, and digital tools, HBP helps lead, inform, and inspire professionals, corporations, educators, and students around the world with the best in management thinking and practice. Mr. Wan joined HBP in 2002 as CEO and is credited with transforming the organization into a global leader in the practice of management. Prior to joining HBP, Mr. Wan was the chief financial officer and then president of the Penguin Group, (now Penguin Random House/Bertelsmann) the global trade consumer book publishing division of Pearson plc. Prior to joining Pearson, he was president of K-12 Publishing, Simon & Schuster’s umbrella group for elementary and secondary education courseware. Before entering the publishing and media industry, Wan held management positions in consulting and finance at Arthur Andersen (now Accenture), PepsiCo and Paine Webber. Mr. Wan received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BA from Yale University. Mr. Wan currently serves on the Board of Governors (chair) for the Yale University Press and on the Board of Directors for Harvard Magazine.
