Mature and disturbing exploration of the human condition

The film is a massive departure in tone from Lanthimos' latest outing, "Poor Things", and is more similar to the aggressive and disturbing atmosphere of his earlier films. It's quite the ambitious film, with a lot of upsetting comedy, cruelty and control running rampant throughout the entire film, but it's not at the expense of the showcasing how far one can be controlled and simultaneously wants to be controlled and have control. It's a massive metaphorical/exaggeration of how one can be manipulated under the guise of kindness, like how Beau Is Afraid is with its meditation on dependency, but doesn't lose what it's trying to say throughout. It's an extremely interesting and captivating film, but is definitely not for everyone with its aggressive and disturbing atmosphere. Content-wise, if you're sensitive to bloody and graphic violence, gore, and graphic sexual content, you may want to skip this one.
